That was a good one Cletus. 04-cheers Winner should of won a Loeb's Bar-B-Q sandwich.

That's the old building Poor Red's was in. You can see the curved roof of the car wash next door. Car wash building is now a pawn shop and the Loeb's building has been torn down and a booger king is there.

I think the Mr. Pride Care Wash building is now a Church.

The amazing thing about this Loeb's BBQ photo is this is even before it opens.
Look on the roof & a worker is still installing stuff.

The windows on the side of the building have just been installed as well.

That side street is Loeb.

I found a little history on this building It also ringed a little bell in my head.

William Loeb opened up the 46th Loeb's Drive-In Service Center at 847-851 Loeb on 25 Nov. 1968. The new laundry cleaners - barbecue- fried chicken center. The street Loeb was named after his grandfather.
By June of 1970 the place was turned into a night club called the Knights Out. Sam Bomarito of Pete & Sams bought the building in July 1974. My Old Man had the Knights Out Club in 1979. He didn't have it very long. But he did throw Jerry Lee Lewis a birthday party there. My Old Man and Jerry Lee were friends and he did work for Jerry Lee at one time.
It looks like the place was renamed Poor Red's in 1980 and maybe closed sometime in the 1990's.

It was actually London Transport before Pat Scanlon made it Poor Red's. He sold it to a guy named Randy who also owned Southern Meat Market. Randy is now in jail for a food stamp problem at the meat market.

Scanlon had a non-compete until the place closed to build the booger king and then opened Patrick's on Spotswood.

Right now I'm getting my information from Memphis newspapers. For some reason Shelby County Deeds won't show anything for that address. I looked up London Transport, what I found was London Transport was at that address 851 Loeb in Aug. 1977. In Aug. 1979 London Transport relocated to 3595 Southern Ave. I'm going to look around for some more information. I'm sure my Old Man leased that place sometime in 1979 or early 1980, he didn't have it very long. My brother and I would bartend there. That was a long time ago.

Nice guy. We competed in high school football back in the early 60's.
