Talk about pitiful. Sun Belt doesn't have one - outsideualr - 02-02-2010 07:27 PM

team in the mid major Top 25. Ivy League has two. Cornell and ....don't laugh....Harvard. This ain't chess guys. This is basketball.
And Harvard has a team rated high than any Sun Belt team. What's wrong with this picture?03-banghead

And you want us to move to a better conference why?

You guys are reminding me of Chickenhawg fans. Assuming that because a team doesn't have a traditional basketball "name" that they aren't any good. Unless you guys missed it, and if you rely only on the sportspage in our local rag you would have, Cornell is ranked at #25 in the ESPN/Coaches Poll this week. Harvard is having a very solid season also. Either one of those teams, especially Cornell, would defeat most if not all of the teams in the SBC (and a lot of other leagues too. Just ask Alabama who got beat by Cornell at Alabama).

Earlier this year Cornell took Kansas to the wire in Fog Allen Fieldhouse, with Cornell leading most of the game.

Evidently the conference is good enough that we haven't ever been able to win it. If it were any tougher, we wouldn't even be mediocre.

My rules of rooting have remained unchanged for years.
1. ASU
2. Conference mates
3. Non-conference opponents.
4. In-state schools.

In conference play whichever result is beneficial is the one I want.

I don't understand the nilistic attitude of fans. Before we played Tennessee a good friend who is a major hog fan (ie. regularly buys tickets) said he wanted ASU to kick UT's rear. I was thinking "are you nuts?" An ASU win over Tennessee would have been bad for the SEC and hurt power ratings, why would you ever root against a conference member in non-conference play?

And since when have Chickenhawg fans had any idea of how things work outside their bubble? There is no doubt that in non-conference games, fans of any team should root for fellow conference members against all comers. Period. No exceptions. No brainer.

Well we can't be worse than last place in any conference, so wouldn't it be better to be in last place in the Missouri Valley than in the Belt? Seriously, I would think our recruiting would be comparable to whatever conference we played in, so that shouldn't make a large difference. But it is embarrassing to be near the bottom of a very weak conference this year. The question is, could last year's team won it all this year? Sadly, we'll never know.03-melodramatic

Doesn't matter. The fans at Western are probably saying, "as weak as the conference is this year, last years team could have gone through it like a cake walk."

Several others are probably saying the same thing.04-cheers

ASU is not only saying it, they're doing it at this point.
