RECRUITS AT MISS. STATE GAME - TOPPERTOM - 01-05-2010 02:57 PM

Recruits on hand Monday•January 5, 2010 • from Daily News blog.
Obviously tonight’s win was big for WKU’s current squad, but it may turn out to be a positive down the road as well.

Among the nearly 6,000 in attendance on Monday were a few pretty big recruiting targets that the Hilltoppers have their eyes on – both local players.

Both Bowling Green High School junior Chane Behanan and Warren Central junior George Fant were in attendance Monday – both 6-7 big men that WKU has made scholarship offers to for the class of 2011.

Behanan might have been paying attention to more than just WKU, however, as he is also being heavily recruited by Mississippi State.

Also spotted in the crowd Monday was former Oklahoma State big man Teeng Akol.

Akol attended the game and was seen with WKU assistant coach Ray Harper prior to the contest.

On Monday, Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford said that Akol would be leaving the Cowboys and will look into a transfer.

Ford told the Tulsa World that it was a ‘mutual decision’ and that Akol would ‘make some visits and go from there.’

A 6-11 sophomore this season for the Cowboys, Akol has played incredibly sparingly during his time at OSU – tallying just two points and three rebounds during his time there.

Akol has not played in a game this season for OSU and wasn’t eligible until December of last year.

Nothing on the Akol situation was confirmed by the WKU coaching staff, but we’ll definitely keep folks posted on this as it develops.

In addition to the 3 mentioned above 6'8" Stephon Drane (already signed for 2010) and 6'3" Ge lawn Guyn were in attendance.
