Ranking the best BBQ in Memphis - Hog Heaven - 04-26-2009 10:13 PM
I haven't been to all of them but here is my ranking of those I have been to:
1) Interstate (simply the best in my opinion)
2) Germantown Commissary (In old Germantown next to the railroad tracks)
3) Central BBQ
4) Neely's (I thought it would almost identical to Interstate but it didn't seem as good to me).
5) Rendevous
6) Corky's
7) Blues City Cafe
I will be interested to see how everyone else feels!

I see two votes for Payne's---I first started going to Payne's back in the seventies and really liked it and continued to go for many years. The last time I went was about ten years ago and it was way too greasy and full of fat. I've never been back---what has changed?
Central BBQ is within a mile of Payne's and is consistently great.

Central does Turkey, but it gets my vote for pulled pork too. What other BBQ shops in Memphis do turkey?

There used to be a spot on Winchester named Gridley's. Not sure if it is a chain or not, not even sure it is still there. But, man, it was good stuff.
