RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread/VERBAL LIST - goniu1523 - 01-17-2010 04:56 PM

Edgytim just posted an article of his visit to Arizona. He rated the visit 10 out of 10. He said he came really close to committing on the visit. He said the only bad part of the visit was the distance and he said it doesn't bother him that much. It sounds like he's going to Arizona. Jerry Kill better focus on Audoniss Madison now.

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread/VERBAL LIST - goniu1523 - 01-17-2010 05:05 PM

Found an article on rivals, it might be a premium article, here's the link:

http://arizona.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1035819

He says his top 2 schools are Arizona and Northern Illinois.
He said he's looking for a school that's good for his major, which is mechanical engineering.
He does not want to stay home.
He said he is definitely going on all of his visits and then he will decide where he will go.

Sidenote: Arizona already has 5 O-lineman commited this year and if Ebble commits to Arizona before Madison that will be 6. I find it hard to believe they will have room for both. Madison will be at NIU by default, hopefully.

I'm sure they had a backup plan in place.

Id love to see them snatch up Tyler Warden from Glenbard West. Ive seen him play multiple times the last few years. He is 6'7" 215, very poised and very athletic. I think he has a lot of upside, and Id love to see us get a big QB like Mallett at Arkansas

Sure seems like this recruiting class has lost all of the momentum it had built up. Getting osei, brown, and a few other verbals looked great with the offers we were waiting on. Not that things have fallen apart but I was getting way too optimistic

Madison's profile doesn't even show he has an offer from AZ. They must want him to walk-on. Looking good for NIU.

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread/VERBAL LIST - NIU05 - 01-17-2010 07:31 PM

Saw this guys name Jordan Perry, QB Portland, Oregon 6'3 205 pop up on Rivals for NIU QB prospects a couple of weeks ago. Maybe he is -1- of their back up plans for Osei. He is listed a Pro-Style QB and throws well.

My guess is they will not a sign a QB unless they feel he is good enough, do not believe we have to reach for a QB. We have -4- on scholy right now should have -5-, but we can live with -4-.

Possible Osei replacement: Aaron Aiken (6'5" 210) out of NJ

BTW ...the kid from Geneva Brandon Bietzel he looks like a prospect. He was offered by WMU early and currently he has no listed offers, but he looks like he can play. We have a verbal from that DT Bonzei from Geneva so I assume we did take a look.

I've seen you mention this guy a couple of times...but Warden looks like he has a ton of interest from.... no one. What tools does this kid have that would translate well to Coach Ki'll's offense?

He may be a back up plan in case they lose anyone prior to signing day. Remember we lost a kid to Kansas St on signing date last year, it happens.

i just like his size and athletic ability. you usually dont find kids that size that can move well coming out of high school. will he work out at QB? remains to be seen, however he does have a good arm. If not, at 6'7" 215, he has the frame to put on a lot of muscle with a college training regiment and might be a nice WR or TE (remember how Idaho's tall WR (Greenway) or something like that just ate up our small CBs? Same with Ball State's Darius Hill? #88 a few years back and that dude on Toledo. I just really like size and potential on this kid

Does anyone know what the new Jawan Jamison article on scout says? Apparently, he talks about his favorite (one day after his NIU visit).

Also what does scout article on Kevin Henry say about his visits?

I'll be surprised if we get either of these guys. Rutgers' head coach made a recent in-home visit to Jamison and he and his mom were over the moon about it. Jamison is visiting Rutgers this week or next and I expect him to commit then.

Henry visits CMU at the end of the month and the new coaching staff will give him the full court press.

The only good thing about the Osei decommit was that he did it with a few weeks to go so the coaching staff has at least enough time to react and go to a plan B. At least it did not happen on signing day.

SoFla safety Teandric Slocum coming in for a visit this weekend, keeping the Florida pipeline going.

Not even ranked on rivals, certainly not a 3 star athlete we should be recruiting. Hopefully we have another 3 star QB we are recruiting as part of our backup plan for Osei.

Tory Squires commits to Ball State.

He looks like a major project on film. How he got a three star rating on Rivals is beyond me.

I agree..... Very athletic.... Very RAW as a player....BSU is hoping he is coachable and they can develop something in a 2-3 years. I do like Ball St recruiting class.

?? when did we get to the point that we can only recruit 3-star recruiting service players? Are we that huge of program and that successful that we can only go after guys that have had a recruiting service evaluate them and have accurately or not accurately put a certain number of stars on them?

Wow...the stars are nice to have, but to ignore a guy because he's not, for goodness sakes, that's ridiculous.

And honestly, I'd rather be deeper in the secondary than the QB position right now. We may not like the idea, but it's highly likely that Chandler is the starting QB the next 2 years. I don't find it to be a huge need to have a QB in this class.
