Football Recruiting 2009 - Benny and The Jets - 01-11-2009 05:22 PM

It's more than just a little dead in here but I thought what the heck, maybe we can get some commentary going on football recruiting for Gardner-Webb. I understand that the Runnin' Bulldogs are looking to sign several quality lineman on both sides of the ball. One prospect is OL Jeff Harris, Kernersville East Forsyth, 6'-2", 260 lb OG/OC. Harris was to take his Official Visit this weekend. He's a 2 - time All Conference, 2008 All County and All Region. He was ranked #155 for all OG's in the country and #3 in NC by ESPN. Early reports were that he was being looked at by Appalachian State, Elon, Furman, Wofford, Coastal Carolina, William & Mary, Gardner-Webb and host of DII schools. The latest is that he holds offers from Wofford and Gardner-Webb and that his interest in ASU, Elon, Furman and W&M has diminished. I also understand that a couple of D lineman from Dudley HS in Greensboro along with linebacker, Brandon Grier, West Charlotte were to visit this weekend also. GWU is missing just a few pieces to take that step back to a Big South Championship after losing a few close close contests in 2008. With Liberty losing a lot of senior starters, the Big South race could be wide open for 2009. With an Automatic Play-off Bid for the Big South starting in 2010, recruiting for GWU and the Big South in general should continue to improve. Alright, there has to be a few other folks out there, let's hear from you. 04-cheers

Gardner-Webb has secured the Verbal Commitment of OL Jeff Harris, Kernersville East Forsyth HS in NC. Any word out there on other commits to GWU?
