Why not? He's 1st in NL in OPS , 1st in walks and on base %, 2nd in slugging, 7th in Home Runs, and is hitting .304. And there is NO DOUBT he is not on anything.

You obvioulsy have no substantive response as to why Bonds shouldn't be an all star, and I guess you laughing emoticon implies you still believe Bonds is on performance enhancing drugs. Yes or no?

Do you not concede that his stats are All-star worthy?

RE: Well hell...Bonds is playing - tigerstothehouse - 07-02-2007 12:11 PM

If he received the votes, why not let him play. The all-star game is for the fans anyway and if they want to see him in it, so be it. Last time I cheked he has never failed a drug test anyway. You may not be a fan of his personality as most people are not, but there is no denying that he is an all-star. [/align]

Yes I do believe is on performance enhancing drugs and think the guy is an A$$ face. He has no appreciation for his fans or anybody and thinks he is God's gift to baseball. I used to be a huge Giants fan, heck half my family lives right outside SF in Livermore but even out there people are torn on this guy. I will say this, he is the best hitter the game has ever seen so yes he should be an allstar BUT do you honestly think he is clean. And if you even have to think about that then is that what we want today's youth to see as a role model? I guess there is no room for MORALS in sports though right?

RE: Well hell...Bonds is playing - tigerstothehouse - 07-02-2007 12:35 PM

Do I think he is clean? Not at all, but he still has not been caught and I am not going to pass judgement untill he is. Are you going to tell me that every hitter before the 1990's was clean? Just because he is an a$$ does not mean that he does not deserve to be in this game. This is not like being snubbed from the NCAA and having to go to the NIT, it is not a big deal, it is purely for the fans and if the fans want to vote anyone into the game, they deserve to be there. There are no snubs from the allstar game as far as I see it since it is for the fans and not the players so Bonds is not taking someone else's place on the team.

RE: Well hell...Bonds is playing - salukiblue - 07-02-2007 12:57 PM

The Bonds I see out there is a pudgy old guy, not one who seems to be on steroids. The argument can be made that he was juiced a few years ago, but I surely don't see any physical evidence that he is juiced now. Furthermore, all players are subject to testing now, and he has not tested positive, as far as I know.

It is more incredible, that as a overweight, injured, 42 year old, he is still one of the most feared hitters in baseball, and can still hit for average and power.

If you are bringing morals into athlete's responsibilities, then you can't be a fan of Kobe (accused of raping a girl, at least had an affair--and talk about thinking one is god's gift to a sport) or Michael Jordan (gambler and adulterer), Charles Barkley (spit on a fan)...the list goes on.

As for baseball, Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth were two of the biggest asses around.

If you are concerned about morals and athletes impression on youth, were you in favor of Jeremy being put back on the team.

Bonds may be a lot of things, but he is not a convicted criminal.
