NASCAR to Seattle.... - GrayBeard - 03-02-2007 12:29 PM

I was watching the news last night, and there was a report about how some guy was trying to bring Nascar to the Seattle area. The people, including the state government, were up in arms. They proceeded to call Nascar fans, white trash, scum, and any other derogatory term. They said that they didn't want that kind of people visiting their area.

Wow!

i live near the old sportsmans park/chicago motor speedway. i think they had a couple nascar races and hosted the chicago target grand prix (formula 1). the track shut down 2 or 3 years ago, cant say i miss it. you have to know this was smack-dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood. they had to ship local residents out for the day because the noise was so deafening. you can see how close the dense residential area is:

i live 5 minutes away and i could hear the cars in my room with the window shut.

i dunno, i cant help but think theres a better use for all that gasoline. not to mention i have never seen that attraction to sitting out in the hot sun without any shade while a bunch of cars go around in a little circle, with an occasional accident. if i wanted to do that, i would pull up a lawnchair on the shoulder of the Dan Ryan expressway.

but hey, if thats how people like to get their jollies, who am i to say.

'Tis why I couldn't STAND that f'n place when I was up there for the past two years.

....and hell no, I don't watch NASCAR, but I don't denigrate those that do.

just more self-righteous, condescending Liberal bigotry from the self-proclaimed "Tolerant".....

now Kev don't label all us liberals as bigots. there are a few of us that actually believe in the first amendment and all the others.

Maybe I should have said "leftist".

- Tulsaman - 03-03-2007 03:28 PM

lefist is a better term. ;-)

- GGniner - 03-03-2007 03:44 PM

I should've used leftist/progressive/fruitcake, I don't paticularly like letting these people use the term "liberal" to describe themsevles. It much more aptly describes the right in this country, in the Classical definition of the term...not the modern use. Which is the problem, they've basically redefined the word. Not uncommon though, at one time you could call someone Gay and it was a compliment on how happy they are.

why does this bother everyone so much? seattle doesn't want NASCAR...whoopdie freakin doo. then they don't get NASCAR. besides bigotry isn't ideological-specific. everyone is bigoted. it just matter about what and to what degree. so, instead of sounding like someone just killed your dog everytime you are offended, how bout looking into the root causes of that bigotry and how to limit it in the future.

What?

Would you have said the same if they said they didn't want African Americans living in their town? How about gays?

Bet you wouldn't have said the same thing then....

P.S. I don't care about NASCAR or the fact that Seattle doesn't want them.

Bet you i would. As i said, everyone is bigoted. instead of being so "offended" about the remarks, do something about it. Educate people, discuss the roots of their bigotry. Acting like you dog just died is a waste of time.

p.s.-same goes for Ann Coulter and her John Edwards "******" remark. Look deeper instead of just being outraged.

- aTxTIGER - 03-03-2007 09:12 PM

p.s.- i dont post that much on this forum, but i can assure you i dont have one politically correct bone in my body. its a waste of time, and hides people's true intentions.

I'm with you, as I stated in my P.S., I don't really care either, I just wanted to see if you were being hypocritical or not. Guess not.

- Rebel - 03-03-2007 09:44 PM

I'm not PC either.

I don't want blacks living near me.

I also don't want whites living near me.

This is only applicable if they're leftists.

lmfao

- georgia_tech_swagger - 03-03-2007 09:57 PM

Seattle is HQ for Microsoft and Starbucks.

Enough said.

lmfao

As Andrew Dice Clay once said, "I don't hate you because your black, I hate you cause you're here."

I distrust everyone that I don't know, white, black, jewish, christian, atheist, left, right.etc.

Do you believe Sociology is a valid science? If so, what is Sociology? Exactly. By observation we can deduct who and how people act in groups.

'Tis why I read Democratic Underground every day. Yes, aTx, I know leftists. I observe them. ...and like I said, be they black, white, yellow, or green, I don't want to live anywhere near them.

Thank god you don't. I wouldn't want you living next to me either. So I guess the feeling is mutual. Maybe the South should try and secede again. lmfao
