Probably best if we just include a link so that people who may be offended by strong language have the choice of whether or not they want to pull up the pic...thanks for understanding! NCTM

Even though I'm a proud fence-sitter, I'll say that the attitude of the donkeys have about this war (and last year's Georgia campaigns) are steadily pushing me to the right.

That being said,

Liberals really suck, first they brought us wealth redistribution through taxes to pay for their social experiments. Then they have helped to lower the social standards that made this country great through moral relativisim," dont judge me". They have opposed relegion at every turn and promoted abortion. They are guided by their feelings, as long as they feel they did something, hell did as long as they thought a certian way about something they feel superior to you. Regardless of the fact that their 40 year control of the goverment and packing of the courts with liberal activist judges who don't interpert law, rather make it has led to a slow constant slide into decay. We have all time highs in drug use, abortions, murder, violent crimes and regardless of the record amounts of money spent, education is seriously in trouble. Imagine that, teachers unions are more concerened with keeping their members jobs then teaching our children. This country needs a revolution, a revolution from the slippery slide into self destruction that the liberals are leading us. Liberals SUCK. sorry for the spelling but this just comes from the heart and and came quick.

Abraham Lincoln instituted the first income tax to pay for the Civil War.

It was revived to pay for World War I.

No where in that sentence does it say libs were the first to start taxing americans, just that they were the first to us it for wealth redistrubution to pay for social experiments. I have no problem paying taxes for the protection of our country, just not to support crack heads in the inner cities with 4 kids, or midnight basketball.

H, I think you might find it interesting to look up the facts as to who collects the most welfare. Give it a try. As far as the picture...

Quote:No where in that sentence does it say libs were the first to start taxing americans, just that they were the first to us it for wealth redistrubution to pay for social experiments.

Pardon me. I pored over your outburst and thought, in "wealth redistribution," I detected a concern about the nature of the income tax, which has been progressive from its very beginning.

Instead, you object to "social experiments."

Is Social Security a "social experiment?"

Is medical insurance for the poor and elderly a "social experiment"?

Are food stamps an "experiment"?

That is most of your social welfare money right there.

Quote:I have no problem paying taxes for the protection of our country, just not to support crack heads in the inner cities with 4 kids, or midnight basketball.

You, sir, are a racist.

You can deny it. In fact, I expect you will. But your denials will fall on deaf ears over here. The truth is now free.

What else but race could you have *possibly* been alluding to by "crack heads in the inner cities with 4 kids?"

I mean, you are a man of West Virginia heritage. West Virginia doesn't even *have* inner cities. (No, nothing in Charleston really counts as an "inner city" Herdon. We both know that.)

Telling, then, that you *didn't* complain about "moonshine drunk trailer trash with four kids." That might have encompassed at least a *few* West Virginia residents. But no. By growling about "crack heads in the inner cities with 4 kids," you neatly left the entire state of West Virginia out of your argument against so-called "social experiements."

*I* know what you meant Herdon. You meant "undeserving, lazy black people." That's your objection to welfare.

(And, when it comes down to it, I suspect "black people," is not really how you would have worded that last sentence, at least in your heart. I'm thinking of a word that rhymes with "chigger" here. That's what you meant. You'll deny it. That's fine.)

All this is patently obvious. Because you didn't even stop there with "crack heads in the inner cities with 4 kids." You went on to complain about "midnight basketball."

And we all know who plays basketball, eh Herdon? Dark people, right? And for the government to encourage dark people to come out after dark -- well, that's simply unacceptable, isn't it Herdon?

You are a racist. You can deny it. Others may rise to your defense. Your words will be plausibly deniable to others here. That's fine.

And, look, don't get me wrong. One can object to social welfare programs without being racist. One can also object to midnight basketball without being a racist. No question.

Buit it has been laid bare here, I think, why *you* object to social welfare programs Herdon. It is your perception -- false, I might add -- that most of the money goes to black people, who you see as undeserving and lazy.

It is high time, Herdon, that you reflect on your view of the world. I'm serious about this. Instead of getting your back up at this post -- and I'm certain you will -- please, sort through your feelings. Why, exactly, did you choose those words? Why, exactly, did you complain about inner city crackheads instead of pointing to an example of poverty all too abundant in your home state?

Because, right now Herdon, you make me sick.

And you call *me* un-American?

- Big Pimpin Deac - 03-31-2003 11:30 AM

I think we know who BlueDevil/Deep Blue/Duke Alum has been reincarnated as.

Just like a liberal to always play the race card.

RF, be careful. The last poster to do that was banned for life.

- Motown Bronco - 03-31-2003 11:53 AM

Usually, it generally frustrates me to no end when the race card is played to stifle debate... But in this case, RF has a point. The direct references to "inner city" and "basketball" certainly do offer more than just a subtle suggestion of one race, without realizing that many whites are also on the government stipend.

Quote:And, look, don't get me wrong. One can object to social welfare programs without being racist.

RF, while I believe we differ on a lot of economic issues, I do appreciate this acknowledgement. Oftentimes, a voice of opposition to a welfare spending bill is immediately shut down by invalid charges of racism. In essence, I feel that an excessive or bloated welfare state is counterproductive and locks people into a cycle of destitution, whereas self-pity, malaise, and frustration result. Just to clarify, I'm not against welfare. But I just believe that while it should be adequate enough to provide a temporary safety net, it should be lean. Welfare lean enough to keep the recipients motivated, while - at the same time - keeping taxes low enough whereas most of a worker's earnings stay in control of the worker that actually earns them.

- RochesterFalcon - 03-31-2003 11:55 AM

Quote:Just like a liberal to always play the race card.

My god! You mean to tell me it isn't patently obvious that's exactly what Herdon was doing?

All I'm doing is calling him on it.

- Big Pimpin Deac - 03-31-2003 12:03 PM

Wait a minute. Let me get this straight, Rochester. Are you trying to say that no Caucasian people live in the inner city? No Caucasian people are crackheads? And, no Caucasian people play basketball at midnight? Who's the racist here? Look in the mirror, tough guy!

- calling_the_hogs - 03-31-2003 12:20 PM

I wouldn't consider what Herdon said racism. The way I see it, he's trying to use classism, not racism. Like Deac said, not all inner city people are African-American.

What he's trying to say is that he doesn't think someone should live on free handouts in life. I agree. I think welfare should be a 5-yr program. People should be able to find work, or show a good effort to do so. I don't want to work my butt off, and have a good 25% of my check go to some guy who's sat on his butt at home all day eating off my labor.

Make welfare temporary, not permanent.

How to be a good liberal...

1. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

2. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach fourth graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese or North Vietnamese communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected by yuppies driving SUVs.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on demand.

8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists who've never been outside of Seattle do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe the National Rifle Association is bad, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E. Lee, or Thomas Edison.

14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides aren't.

15. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton, central figure of Filegate, Travelgate, Whitewater, and assorted other scandals, should someday run for president.

16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried, is because the right people haven't been in charge.

17. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and sex offender can serve two terms in the White House.

18. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, but manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

19. You have to believe that illegal Democratic Party funding by the Chinese is somehow in the best interest of the United States.

20. You have to believe Hillary Clinton is really a lady.

That's weak.

Crackheads obviously come in all colors and live all over the place. In West Virginia, I'd dare say quite a few of them live in trailers. But no West Virginia crackhead lives in an "inner city." Why? West Virginia has no "inner city."

"Inner city," is obviously code for "the slums where black people live," or, simplified, "black." This is obvious. As I said, it's plausibly deniable -- and you are doing your best here to deny it -- but the meaning is obvious.

Herd meant black crackheads. If he didn't mean black crackheads, why the "inner city" modifier? If he was concerned about ALL crackheads with four children or WEST VIRGINIA crackheads with four children, he would not have said "inner city." That's plain.

He meant black crackheads. This is perfectly obvious.

1) If you haven't been to WV, what you said was hyprocritical.

2) Any town can have an "inner city" or poor district. Charleston, WV has over 100,000 people if I'm not mistaken. For them to have "inner city troubles" would not surprise me.

The only one who's screaming "black crackheads" is you.

- RochesterFalcon - 03-31-2003 12:46 PM

What kind of dillweed means *Charleston* when he says "inner city?"

A Google search of "Charleston inner city":

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22charlest...8&start=10&sa=N

15 hits. About three refer to the city in West Virginia.

- calling_the_hogs - 03-31-2003 01:01 PM

He wasn't

Just proving what you said "WV has no inner city" could be wrong.

I know towns of 40,000 with inner cities. Certainly a WV city is likely to have one...maybe not as big as NYC, Chicago, etc...but it's there.

You're just jumping and pointing fingers RF.

No, you're weak Racist Falcon. Herdon never said anything about African-Americans and he never dropped a racial slur. Yet, you are accusing him of being a racist. What a country! You are the one telling him what he meant to say, which means that you are the one with all of the preconcieved notions and stereotypes in your mind.
