- JoltinJacket - 07-03-2003 04:21 PM Ok, so I'm looking to a get a cheap 2nd computer to replace this outdated Win98 thing. I don't know the first thing about Linux, but know my way around Windows enough where it shouldn't be much of a problem to make the switch. So, would this deal be worth paying $200 for? - georgia_tech_swagger - 07-03-2003 04:42 PM IMHO... No. Get a cheap computer, but for the LOVE OF GOD... put Mandrake Linux on it. Mandrake Linux is a few light years ahead of any other Linux distro in how user-friendly it is, as well as its ease of use and intuitive graphical interface. I'll create a new thread w/ screenshots of 9.0 - georgia_tech_swagger - 07-03-2003 05:16 PM see the Mandrake Linux Showcase thread. I recommend buying a cheap PC with Windows XP on it... then use Partition Magic Pro to setup your Linux partition ... then install linux to dual boot. You can then choose to boot Windows or Linux upon startup. Very handy if you accidentally foopah something. |
