- Guest - 11-14-2004 04:56 PM The Golden Flashes versus the Golden Knights. Wonder if Kent's exploding offense will bomb UCF's chances at a win this season? UCF is headed for CUSA and it may be off the heels of their worst season ever. Why? Well, even though Central Florida has only had football for 25 years, they are still staring at a possible 0-11 season which would actually be considered the worst record ever recorded by a Golden Knight football team. It would surpass their only other winless season in 1982 when the Sam Weir-coached Golden Knights went 0-10 by virtue of the one more loss--RECORD-WISE. However, even though the Knights may go winless it's not like they lost 60-10 to Nicholl's State or 69-0 to Virginia Military Institute. UCF did lose to some good OOC teams and Division 1-A MAC teams. One question lingers that I'd kind of like to know? Why did the Golden Knights get rid of Mike Kruzcek? It couldn't have been because he was a terrible football coach, because even Kruzcek wouldn't have allowed his team to get humiliated by Buffalo. Maybe the Knights thought O'Leary would lead them well and it was a time for a change? So far, so not is the case. No Central Florida coach ever in history went winless in their first season except for Sam Weir who only coached for one season. So will O'Leary be gone after this season if he goes winless? Not with the serious cake (and I'm not talking about dessert) UCF dished out to get him in Orlando. But one more question that will certainly be answered Saturday is this one: Who's gold is worth more? - axeme - 11-14-2004 05:05 PM K is gone exactly because he was a lousy coach. Did you miss last season? Talk about humiliating losses--the Kaniggets had a bunch. And O'Leary's cupboard was bare this year once they got rid of all the malcontents, thugs, and chumps off of Kruzek's team. He gets a pass this year. They have been competitive against some decent teams. If he doesn't win next year, some heat will get turned up, but this year? No way. I'd bet they will be markedly improved next year. Plus, they'll get a couple of wins just by moving to CUSA!
- Motown Bronco - 11-14-2004 05:11 PM UCF would've likely gotten their win had they played the Broncos this year. Going by records alone, it would look like a razor-tight pillowfight matchup. Going by loss margins, however, and I'd definitely give UCF the edge (especially if the game was in Orlando, i.e. non-cold weather). - Herd Fan 4-Life - 11-14-2004 06:46 PM I'd imagine that once O'Leary starts getting his own kids at UCF you won't be heard from again. - moloch_322 - 11-14-2004 07:07 PM Even if Coach K was at UCF this year, we would have the same results. He was not bringing the standards of this program up. O'Leary doesn't tolerate thug life at UCF - nor does the administration - so the thugs have been weeded out from this team. Look at all the academic scandals of this team last year. If anything O'Leary is taking care of any potential problems before they become a problem. Now go back to when he was hired. GO didn't have a sufficient amount of time to recruit like he has this year. This year he has sent scouts to high schools throughout Florida - the main selling points: playing time and his coaching style. I think we will see an improvement in this team next year and into the future. In many ways, this years team is very much like a first year team - little experience and many positions to fill. Our number of injuries this year doesn't help the situation either. - Jugnaut - 11-14-2004 07:32 PM Alright, I feel the need to respond as most people who are talking are not UCF fans. Coach K was a good coach as far as he could get the offense to score and win. After the 2002 season, Kentucky wanted to hire him for about $600,000 a year, but he agreed to stay with a small raise and a longer contract. He wanted to led the knights to greatness. But then last year happened. We went 3-9 largely because players were injured or suspended. Coach K had allowed a lot of players to slack and skip classes. They pretty much did whatever they wanted. Coach K suspended some of them cuz the AD was getting pissed, but too little too late. He was fired before the season ended. O'leary was hired in December. He didn't have a lot of time to recruit, but he filled in the most important areas OL, DL, and DB. Our time is very young this year. We are starting several freshman. True Freshman. So we're basically fielding a high school team. O'learys done a good job recruiting for next year. At least one coach from the school has visited every high school in florida. We've got to Florida top 100 commits. O'leary just needs to get his type of player into the system. So in 3-4 years UCF will be good again. It will be a painful time until then. If O'leary wasn't already a proven coach, I might be talking differently. But he has proven himself...so unless we still suck in 3 years, I think the AD made the right decision. - The Knight Time - 11-14-2004 08:22 PM Why exactly does this Sun Belt prick post on this board? - Guest - 11-14-2004 08:23 PM Herd Fan 4-Life Wrote:I'd imagine that once O'Leary starts getting his own kids at UCF you won't be heard from again. You'd like that. Wouldn't you? But at least YOU will still keep hearing from me since my fellow bro's from Troy seem to keep whipping the thunder out of your herd!! - Guest - 11-14-2004 08:31 PM The Knight Time Wrote:Why exactly does this Sun Belt prick post on this board?#1. The Mid-American Conference is a nice conference and one where Rick Chryst has even mentioned my school as a future member. #2. Central Florida's arrogant posters and fans were and still are disrespectful to the Sun Belt Conference. #3. UCF's football players were entirely classless at the game with us in 1999. Alot of those players I imagine are now college drop-outs working as bagboys at the local K-Mart or probably spending time in prison for. . . .well, we all know what the "boys in the hood" do down in Orlando. #4. UCF's most disrespectful fan, The Knight Time, posts here regularly and a response from him is always guaranteed on the MAC forum. Need any more reasons? - The Knight Time - 11-14-2004 08:36 PM BlueRaiderPride Wrote:#I imagine are now college drop-outs working as bagboys at the local K-Mart or probably spending time in prison for. . . .well, we all know what the "boys in the hood" do down in Orlando. Please, we'd rather not discuss your current job employment at the time. As for classless, you're the only ****** I see come on this board for nothing else than creating pissing matches. Now please, retreat back to your central Tennesee outhouse and go away. |
