Is the water you are referencing a generic link to KROD or am I mistaken?

No, because they are expected to teach themselves.

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
If you go on the KROD website, you can click on Steve Kaplowitz's page and read all of his articles. Since he wrote this back in July, it's about 7 pages back.

From there, he references the LA Times article and the reference is hyperlinked but when you click on it, it is no longer in the LA Times archives.

Steve K. also wrote an article on the same subject for El Paso Inc. In that article, he quotes the Father as saying that Hamilton had second thoughts about coming to UTEP since April or March ( around the time of the Floyd interview). That article is still active and I posted the link.

You can choose not to believe the father and believe Floyd.

Given Floyd's record however, I choose to believe the Father and not Floyd.

Ah, the quotes that came after the fact. Back pedaling. No, I will not retro actively believe Daddy Hamilton. Again, everything Coach Floyd has said was current and timely. Daddy Hamilton threw everything against the wall to see what stuck - after the fact. Not good enough. It doesn't matter though. Isaac, himself, should have requested his release in April, no make that March, instead of having his Daddy do it at the 11th hour.

You are entitled to your opinion of what happened. I agree with you. Hamilton should have officially requested his release in April.

It all worked out in the end. Hamilton got a scholarship and will be a Bruin.

It worked out in the end, huh? For who? Hamilton, yes. UCLA, yes.

UTEP, no. We lost a recruit. But another Aggie-type post.

I now see why your students aren't interested.

It all worked out becuase it's about the kids remember? In the grand scheme of things UTEP loses out of a recruit but the kid gets to go where he wanted anyway.

That is what should matter.

RE: Isaac Hamilton wants out of UTEP?
That is the dumbest answer I could ever expect.... Even from an Aggie (maybe not)..

If it's about the kids, why have programs like Kentucky, NCAA tourneys, $2 mill a year salaries for coaches? And it if is really about the kids, why didn't he go to Yale, Brown, Harvard, or even Rice?

If it's about the kids, why are you afraid to pay more than $5 per ticket?

About the kids?..... The dumbest of responses, have just reached a new low.

The argument I presented is the same arguement that many of you have presented as a reason why fans should still shell out their hard earned money for pathetic sporting events. I was being sarcastic.

The way you and others treated Hamilton proves once and for all that you don't really give a crap about the kids but simply want successful athletic programs.

At least I am honest when I say that I won't spend my hard earned money on sub par sports.

You and others like you pretend to support athletics regardless of quality because you claim it's about the kids but then you turn around and bash a kid for wanting to stick with his grandma.

Thank you for showing your true colors.

18 year old kids, huh?

it is about growing young men/women into mature adults. Part of being grown is accountability.

The student athlete is provided a scholarship for their work on the court/field and in the classroom. A true fan supports them with attendance at the event vs advocating on a message board which most will never read. I guess you can continue to support this"kid" by rooting for UCLA if they play UTEP.

The boy made a mistake. How would you feel if an entire city condemned you for mistakes you made when you were 18? He is already paying a heavy price for his mistake. He is going to miss out on a year of basketball. I pray that his grandmother does not pass before he plays again.

We don't need to bash a kid for making a mistake. All of us made mistakes at that age.

I'm surprise at how unforgiving all of you are with a kid this age.

I've never bashed him. In fact, I wish him well along with his grandmother. Rules are set and must be followed so it is right for him to sit a year.

03-hissyfit You state you won't pay for subpar sports yet you generalized UTEP fans as only caring about the sport and not the kids. Who do you think is watching win or lose? Your admission of actions indicate you also dont care about the students athletes unless they are winning. (I dont expect you to see the hypocrisy)

Incorrect. I care about the fact that they will eventually graduate and live productive lives. I'm just not going to waste a night out with the family to see them lose.

No one wished bad on him.

You said everyone won.... AND NOW, you are spinning the debate. As you usually do, when people call you out- on how full of shet your argument is.

Fitbud, you make me worry about my kids in school.

Everyone did win becaue UTEP got their scholarship back and Hamilton will not be allowed to play. Isn't that what they wanted anyway?

When people call me out?

Just because they disagree with my opinion doesn't mean I got called out or I'm wrong. It only means that they disagree.

I don't know where your kids go to school but I assure you, I am a damn good teacher.

Don't make the mistake of assuming that anything I post here reflexs on my ability to teach.

This, for me, is a form of entertainment.

I'm simply playing devil's advacate and having a good time. Nothing I say should be taken personally.
