Here are the actual numbers for normal enrollment reporting in Louisiana. ULM and Tech have not released Fall 2013 yet.

Enrollment

ULM: 8,560 (2012 Fall)
Tech: 11,360 (2012 Fall)
ULL: 16,687 (2012 Fall) / 16,647 (2013 Fall)

That's only undergraduates for UL. We picked up around 1,000 grad students. Those numbers are from last year. Those Tech numbers are also inflated. Also, SLCC (The Community College in Lafayette) has 3,600 students. Those students are heading for UL next year if they make the grade so expect another bump for 2014.

Wrong, the numbers above are all from official school releases. The 18K number has no relationship to the 16K number you posted. You are down 40 students. No big deal, just posting facts.

This is from the ULL release:

The University’s regular enrollment remains stable, with 16,647 for the Fall 2013 semester. Last year, the enrollment was 16,687, a difference of 40 students.

The university also is enrolling a number of students in professional programs and credit-bearing continuing education for a Fall 2013 total enrollment of 18,235.

Texas State was the 4th most applied to University in Texas, only behind Texas, Texas A&M, and University of Houston. For fall 2013, TXST had over 25,000 applications.

That is how I read it as well. That said, this is still positive given continually rising admissions standards. We expected decreased freshman class numbers; but they remained steady. This along with improving on-campus housing will allow the University to continue steady growth. 04-cheers

If someone is taking a credit bearing continuing education course, is he not enrolled in the university and paying tuition for a credited course? If that is the case, why not count them as part of your enrollment? Also, what about any on-line courses offered by the university? A person taking a 3 hour on-line course and paying for it is also enrolled. Seems to me the 18,235 should be used as official enrollment at UL.

Continuing education is a part of the university, yet is separate.

RE: New enrollment numbers for 2013
I'd think online courses, which are becoming more an more popular, as being enrolled. There are full time students who take some of their semester courses online because they can't fit in the class they want during a normal days availability. UL has lagged behind others in online course options, so I'm glad they've pushed hard to make them more available. I think South Alabama has used this option tremendously for military personnel if I'm not mistaken.

Money is money. For those schools that are able to assess a student fee from tuition to apply towards athletics, every enrollment counts.

I think at uta we are at 33,300 or so..a few less than last semester.

33,300 it is

http://www.uta.edu/news/releases/2013/09...llment.php

fall of 2012 was 33,239 for UTA so a very slight increase in enrollment for UTA, but still growth which is good

I thought UTA might be a bit higher because they had a very strong spring 2013 enrollment and UTA had a strong run from 2009-2010-2011 and then a slight drop for 2012 from 2011......so at least 2013 is on the upswing again

hopefully the new president will bring new energy and a fundraising campaign to go with it

ok it is time for UTA football. Make them an offer they can't refuse.

Yes. Troy has small campuses in Montgomery and Dothan along with class offerings at Eglin AFB in Ft. Walton. I believe they have similiar arrangements at Tyndal AFB in Panama City and at NAS Pensacola.

Here is an update since Tech released their enrollment today. ULM Fall 2013 is still not yet reported. Again, the only reason I am posting this is because the first post on Louisiana schools enrollment was not correct. It is not to start a flame war. We are all getting slightly smaller, but with better quality in first time students and overall graduation rates.

Enrollment

ULM: 8,560 (2012 Fall)
Tech: 11,360 (2012 Fall) / 11,014 (2013 Fall) - Down 346
ULL: 16,687 (2012 Fall) / 16,647 (2013 Fall) - Down 40

I don't find that surprising. I think Texas State is 4th in enrollment behind those same 3 schools. With two large metro areas to recruit students, athletes, and alumni from---Texas State has the potential to become a significant power in the state.

We're actually still 5th in the state. We are just 653 students behind The University of North Texas. We should pass them in either the spring or in the fall of 2014. We're still about 5,000 behind Houston though. I'd like to see us get to about 45,000.

That is not really correct. 16,647 is the enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students. The additional enrollment that brings it up to 18,235 are continuing education students (not working toward a degree).

That is how I read it as well. That said, this is still positive given continually rising admissions standards. We expected decreased freshman class numbers; but they remained steady. This along with improving on-campus housing will allow the University to continue steady growth. 04-cheers

If your a student and your working towards some sort of certification then in my book you are a student and have to pay tuition like everyone else. If they are counting lawyers and teachers going to some CLE's session then no you shouldn't count those people because they are temporary and it's usually just a day or two. I wasn't trying to be deceptive but I see what the others are saying. We have been at 17,000 since I was a student in the 80's.

Where did you hear we were 4th?

I don't find that surprising. I think Texas State is 4th in enrollment behind those same 3 schools. With two large metro areas to recruit students, athletes, and alumni from---Texas State has the potential to become a significant power in the state.

We're actually still 5th in the state. We are just 653 students behind The University of North Texas. We should pass them in either the spring or in the fall of 2014. We're still about 5,000 behind Houston though. I'd like to see us get to about 45,000.

Fourth in applications not enrollment
