RE: Coach Kevin McGeehan
Richmond is a program I've admired since the Tarrant years. Campbell played UofR fairly regularly back in the 80s.

Two things I wanted to investigate off the bat...

1. A quick look at UofR's roster indicates no juco recruiting. Perhaps that will be a change from the Laing era.

2. How did the Spiders do in Feb/March with McGeehan on the staff?...

05-06 13-17 season / 2-9 Feb-Mar
06-07 8-22 season / 3-6 Feb-Mar
07-08 16-15 season / 6-6 Feb-Mar
08-09 20-16 season / 9-6 Feb-Mar (NIT?)
09-10 26-9 season / 10-3 Feb-Mar (NCAA Tournament)
10-11 29-8 season / 13-2 Feb-Mar (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16)
11-12 16-16 season / 4-6 Feb-Mar
12-13 19-15 season / 6-6 Feb-Mar (CBI Tournament)

Pretty encouraging!

What's with the "Princeton" talk? Does Richmond run that offense?

I was not the traditional "Princeton" offense. The half court principles were the same as far screening, cutting, high percentage shots etc. But teams that usually run Princeton get the stereo type of playing at a slow pace. A lot of there teams had a lot of freedom to not restrict the individual talent from flourishing. There teams also had a very good transition game. One defense they played a great matchup zone. Hope the kids pick it up.

Good article in the Fayetteville Observer about the hire.

Highlights: Freeman (called "Ferguson" in the article) said he was impressed with McGeehan and is looking forward to working on the "team concept".

Roller puts McGeehan and UofR HC Mooney in a "cerebral" group of coaches along with Mark Few, Rick Byrd, etc.

I believe UofR's Peter Thomas has been chosen. He was in the practice session yesterday, actively participating. Two other gentlemen were sitting in the stands watching the practice, I believe they are interviewing for a position on the staff, as well.

I from Richmond I remember watching him play. I was reading on their website he is was the Director of Basketball operations. I like the hire, he was a leader when he was a player and I think he will be a leader on the sideline.

From what I've been told, this is correct.

Wonder who the gentlemen in the stands were?

Saw coach with 2 other guys leaving Convocation Center yesterday, they were too old to be recruits so I'm assuming they were here for interviews as assistants. One of the guys with him looked like Jamal Brunt who is a current assistant at Richmond. Would be surprised if he jumped ship.

I joined the board to let confirm that the guys seen on campus were, in fact, interviewing for assistant coach positions. The black guy is Chris Clark, currently an asst. w/ St. Francis (PA); and, the white guy is Dan Geriot, currently a volunteer asst. w/ Princeton. As of yesterday, both accepted offers to come to Campbell.

Don't know much about Clark. The only think I know is that he has worked under some incredible coaches. Dan Geriot was a great player for the spiders, when he was not hurt. Very smart good player always thought he would be a good coach. His leadership was one of the main reason the spiders made it to the Sweet 16. Should be a great addition for are big men. Sounds like Clark will coach the Guards. If they are hired.
