I dunno. I'd say if we're not winning 3-4 years from now, we're in trouble. We HAVE to have improvement next year. I would say at least 6 wins but that might be overly optimistic.
I'm sick of some of you idiots who think UAB football will just die... I've sat through season after season of Watson Brown and Neil Callaway football to know that, if football was going to be cut, it would have been cut several years ago.
If you want UAB football to be more successful, you will just have to open your pocketbook, quit complaining Nancy, and help Coach McGee (or any other coach for that matter) get better practice facilities and hire more experienced assistant coaches.
And I sat on both sides of the stadium on Saturday... there were several thousand fans in attendance, but most left near the end of the 3rd qtr like I did... I wouldn't subject my family to the torture of watching those blue-clad imbeciles take OUR trophy out of that endzone.

PREACH!
The two people I have season tickets with left at halftime and I don't blame them. I went back out to our tailgate with them and went back in with my extra ticket for the second half. I don't think I've ever been more disgusted at a football game(I wasn't at Tulane last year). However, I'm not giving up on this program. It will take time to change the culture of this program, unfortunately Saturday was a huge step back. Wins will make for better attendance, that's the way it is. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed about Saturday. Truth be told, I was extremely disappointed. I thought we had a good chance to win our last two games and carry some momentum into next season. On a positive note, at least it took me until the last home game to get burnt out on football as opposed to last year when I was burnt out by game 2.
UAB suffers from the same location related malaise in terms of attendance that many urban schools have. Note the following of NYU in the "Big Apple", the schools in San Francisco, Washington, DC, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, San Diego or Denver. That is why pro football went to these cities, taking advantage of the lack of collegiate competition in the early years. It may also answer why the NFL seems to be in no hurry to return a team to Los Angeles.
Yes, UAB has a substantial challenge in front of them and winning is an important factor in that future. Just as education requires a triad of teacher, parent and financial support to be successful, UAB needs coaches (who are good teachers), infrastructure (facilities) from "parents" and financial support in large helpings (from winning) to get where it wants to go. The student / player in both scenarios will respond positively if the other components are there.
BTW, It is not coincidence that the national BCS competition is narrowing down to the same half dozen wealthiest schools that dominate every year.

Nice slant. I stayed to the bitter end andincreased my donations this year. We all need to step it up. UAB is here to stay. Lets not give our enemies any more ammo.

You're a better man than me then. I couldn't take it anymore in the 4th quarter. That was a completely different performance than any I've seen all year out of them. Ironically enough, I was talking to someone before the game about how much fight this team has in them.

Doom despair and agony on me, deep dark depression excessive misery.
Ok believe it or not we won as many games as most thought prior to the start of the season. We believed Troy, Tulane and Memphis would be in the win column giving us the chance to win 4-5 games. Their were some fans who believed we could win 6 games, and if the ball.. well never mind.
This is not the end, not yet, for the first time this season the team looked liked it gave up. This may have been because the Coaches could not come up with a solution to what was going on on the field, it also could have been that the team have picked sides on who is at fault and who should be playing and so on..
Remember most of these players are not Coach McGee's kids, they know it and he shows it. The coach is coaching for year 2-3.
This senior class disappeared much like what is going on at Southern Miss, Ouch, Ouch, OUCH !!!!!

IF UAB is to improve its records over the next several seasons, it MUST strengthen each leg of its triad. Just having a better coaching staff alone won't provide long term improvement. Yes, we can improve over some of our competition if they also struggle with their own "triads" over that time. Are we only competing to become "the best of the worst" in C-USA? Our problem is that we started a long way behind the others in 1992 and have only improved our infrastructure minimally and then only once. Somehow we must find the financial backing to match what we face in our own league, or we face the possibility of becoming known as "a coaching graveyard" in the next decade.
