I'd go with drunk driving because you put others in harms way. There is also a big difference between having a BAC of .09 and .25 when it comes to how much danger you put others in.

Cheating on your spouse can tear a family, or two, apart, but it isn't likely going to involve somebody getting killed.(and before some smartass comments, I know people can pull a gun if they catch their spouse cheating)

One is a moral issue, the other is breaking the law.

Guns don't kill people, husbands that come home early kill people. Spend a quarter, save a marriage.

This.

Drunk driving puts hundreds in physical danger. Adultery doesn't.

Right, but you know if I didn't put that in there somebody would have come on and said something along those lines.

Someone missed my point. Which is for everyone moralizing that we shouldnt hire Petrino on moral and integrity reasons because he cheated, we have hired two other coaches who has done something worse. Used bad judgement by driving drunk.

I knew what you meant. I'm also willing to bet more people on this board have driven drunk than have cheated on their wives. That may have something to do with it.

Which is worse?

Easy!

Adultery.

Next question.

Wrong answer for reasons stated above.

Petrino didn't get fired for cheating on his wife.

He got fired for abusing his position to benefit his side honey and lying to his boss.

Morals aside, it's in keeping with his track record of a lack of professionalism and poor judgement.

I don't want him within a hundred miles of a program founded by Gene Bartow.

Yeah, it's obviously just a philosophical debate, because there's no way it will happen. But Petrino's problems weren't that he got caught with a 25 year old blonde. It's all the other unbelievably bad decisions that surrounded it. He hired her over 150+ other candidates while he was sleeping with her. He gave her $20,000. Her fiance was a fellow member of the athletic department. He lied, repeatedly, to his boss. He apparently can't drive a motorcycle and text at the same time. These are the things that are unacceptable and the reason why he's going to have a hard time finding another job in college.

The interesting fact to me is how nobody is coming to his defense and saying, "He's really a good person; he just got caught up in a bad situation." Tressel had that. Butch Davis had that. Hell, even Eustachy back in the day had that. Nobody in the coaching community is saying anything about Petrino. That's probably because they listened to their mommas tell them "if you can't say anything nice...."

I know why he got fired. My point for those who are saying he shouldn't be hired because of his moral infidelity.

And I agree. I don't want him either for his poor judgement. But the same should hold true for wanting a football coach for using poor judgement in drinking and driving.

They're saving for a few years for the beautiful comeback story. See Tiger Woods.

Culture shock for me. I come from a message board where everybody thinks we're the end all be all in college atheletics.

why would a hog fan post on uat's message boards?

Um, maybe because I'm interested in your take on the situation? I think I've been pretty respectful, is there a problem with me being here??

I really didn't think you could make the Petrino for Mcgee switch, nor should you, if Mcgee did return to arkansas but it would make for a story. However, somebody probably will hire the guy next season, maybe UTEP to replace mike price, fitting.

I read that as a jab at the inbred fans of our rural sister campus to the west, rather than at you.

The synchronicity in the story is that it seems text messages did them both in. It is stunning to me the people who engage in all their bad behavior in a way that is so easily tracked. It's also stunning that someone would think they could successfully send text messages while riding a motorcycle, as if reducing the number of wheels on the vehicle by half didn't provide enough additional degree of difficulty.

Petrino will land somewhere, if not this year then next.

Weaseliness aside, he's one hell of a football coach, and some backwater school desparate for a winner will make him an offer.

Probably a CUSA school.
