I'm in the same boat... Used to love his show but like greasy food I find the older I get the more sour his antics are.

Didn't mean to poke your 'issues' Paul, but I was referring to the fact that Maher isn't exactly a big fan of Obama. Granted, he loathes Republicans more, but still...

Well if giving 1 million dollars to help get someone elected is "not being a big fan" would he cut out his beating hear for someone who he did support wholly?

Maher is doing two things with the donation.

1. Telling you that the Republican candidate needs defeated at all costs.
2. Telling you that these PAC's are a joke.

so by strengthening a PAC he is telling us they are a joke... yea ok...

If he wanted to do that he could have formed his own PAC with a funny name and odd purpose..

Mahar takes the occasional swipe at Obama because he want to be able to say "I take the occasional swipe at Obama"

I love his show even though I disagree with him on many, many things. His panel is one of the few places you see people with wildly diverse political stances go at each other....especially from the libertarian wing of humanity.

You dont get that on FOX News, CNN, or MSNBC anymore without the dissenting opinion being outnumbered 8-1...yes I am looking at you Erick Erickson and Michael Steele.

Yeah..ok...doing the exact same thing as Colbert would say what about him exactly???

And Maher's issues with Obama is that he's not tough enough and he isn't liberal enough. The same thing most of us liberals take issue with him about.

Maybe Obama realizes what us classical liberals understand--that if he were liberal enough to suit you, the result would be unmitigated disaster, and he's trying to hold it to at least mitigated disaster.

He realizes if he were 'liberal enough' for the folks like Tom he could not get elected as a dog catcher. Clinton triangulated because I think it suited him and he liked the game. Obama is a leftist to his core who knows he is in a nation that is not where he wants it to be, so he pretends.

How you know the GOP is in trouble....

Hey dumbsh!t - seeing as how most of these 150 debates had moderators from liberal media sources who threw out the questions to the candidates, YOU and others now blame the candidates for the slew of ridiculous questions asked about social issues. Stupidity for the soft headed. Not surprised to see you pushing that meme, Max.

I'd just once love to see all the candidates just ignore the stupid questions asked and go on to talk about the kinds of issues the nation wants discussed. Jobs, the economy, energy policy, the budget deficit.

We all know that they keep asking these questions so that the MSM can turn around and tell us that all these GOP candidates care about is contraception and abortion. We now know how they operate - all you have to do is pay attention and observe.

This is what really bothers me. Republicans don't deserve my vote either, so long as they act like they'd rather talk about contraception than the economy.

I like his diverse panels too, but you can also find them on MSNBC's Morning Joe. They have the most interesting and diverse political discussions aside from the Sunday talk show panels.

RE: Bill Maher in love with Obama
Perhaps you might have overlooked that Bill stacks his 'diverse panel' with at least 3 to 1 with those likely to agree with himself. Maybe he has changed since it has been awhile since I bothered to watch his blather, but I doubt it.

For anybody who hasn't noticed, HBO has gone leftist quite a while ago. BM fits in nicely there. Watch for their upcoming hit piece (film) on Palin.

Mahar's panels are usually two leftist, a Libertarian, Mahar who is either lefty or Libertarian depending on what issue you're talking about and a sacrificial conservative.

Ill agree on Morning Joe... Its the only thing on that station worth watching.

Noam Chomsky recently spoke on how American libertarians are not "classical liberals." Very interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIpJQEcXP...re=related

Obama is liberal but also a technocratic pragmatist. I think Obama understands that this is a center right country and to succeed in this political climate you need to appear more reasonable than the GOP alternative (not hard with the crop of GOP House freshmen) and act like the "adult in the room." He's doing all he can so long as it's within reason and will not cost the Democrats power.
