UK is scary good!
Mad me sick watching five 5* players on the floor at once and two 5* sitting on the bench waiting to come in.

Here's Mick fighting for some 3* players that Calipari would just laugh at.

Here's hoping the NCAA finally nails this cheating SOB one of these days and lays the hammer to UK!!!

Mick is doing things the right way. If you can't get a team full of 5* then you go out and get good 4-5 year players. I'd rather have SK for the next two years than whatever one and done shooting guards Cal recruits over those years.

Anthony Davis is awesome, but I actually think the 2009-10 team was better. They had a much better backcourt with Wall/Bledsoe and I'll take Cousins/Patterson over the current collection of big men. I'll definitely give the edge to the wings on the current team though.

Cal can get all the 5* he wants. He still has issues coaching in big games.

I would rather do business our way and get the results we get, than do business their way and get the results they get.

RE: UK is scary good!
They didn't seem so great when they played Tennessee last.
They play like crap away from Rupp.
What's the point of having a team of 5 stars and never reaching the championship? Most years, they don't even make the final 4. Last year, they probably should have lost to Princeton in the first round. I'm just not that impressed by Calipari.

RE: UK is scary good!
I heard Cal on his weekly radio show........maybe a couple of weeks ago. He is so over the top with
with the crap he spews around it is laughable. He isn't even convincing in anything he says. His name
recruits, and he has UK on his lapel pin and a blue tie.

For the APR grad rate gurus............how can UK continue to have a roster of players that leaves for the NBA
every other year? Won't you get a bunch of Schollys revoked?

+1. UK isn't even a college basketball team anymore. It is an NBA minor league franchise that the NCAA sadly allows to compete. Cal never talks about UK or its traditions when I hear him speak. It's always about himself and his one and done guys. I definitely prefer the way Cronin does business. It is much more gratifying as a fan.

Also, isn't Anthony Davis the kid they paid $50,000 for according to that Chicago Tribune story last year? We need to remember the NCAA will absolutely turn a blind eye to this guy and his cheating as long as he's at UK. Too much of a money-maker for them compared to Memphis and UMASS.

RE: UK is scary good!
I believe that Mississippi State will beat UK. UK has to play State at the Hump and the Bulldoggs were robbed of a win at home in OT against UK two years ago. The Bulldogs players are chomping at the bit as are their fans to exact some revenge. The Hump will be a very hostile environment for the young Wildcats.

Stansbury has a great pg in Dee Bost, a really good transfer on the Wooden Award watch list in Arnett Moultrie who can flat out play and Renardo Sidney is a load in the lane and has played very well this year with improved endurance. I'm not sure UK has an answer to Sidney.

State plays Ole Miss tonight. AK's job is maybe on the line.

Yeah, I hate Calipari and Matta too. Both are full of themselves and run shady programs, IMHO. I can't wait for the day that both get caught.

If I were a billionaire, I'd have private detectives working 'round the clock to take those two down.

All those programs are basically the same (also include Coack K, Roy Williams, Boeheim, etc). They just have a higher salary cap than we do.

I think the reason why they don't lose scholarship due to APR is because if the kid leaves the program in "good standing" then they are counted as being on track to graduate. UK probably pulls something that makes sure the kids are on track.

So the APR isn't about Grad rates? I didn't know that.

Marcus, I believe when last we heard, the bidding on Anthony Davis' services for his one year in college was at $200,000, not $50,000, and I have no doubt that UK met or exceeded that price. He is probably the highest-priced player on their team at this point, but I imagine Jones got a raise for staying this year, and I believe Teague's salary was funneled through his brother in the NBA via a Nike shoe deal. Beyond that, who knows, other than the standard practices in use down there, which probably enable the "average" player to make, what?, about what a professor makes?

As for Cal not talking about UK's vast tradition, I doubt there is a program that is more corrupt in more ways (and that only speaks to the ways and examples we know about) than Kentucky -- all part of what makes up "the greatest tradition in college basketball." But you're right - Cal doesn't even try to hide that he's all about getting his players to the NBA as fast as possible/necessary, and of course the very best players in high school are all about that so they think Cal walks on water. Talk about an upside-down system.

As for UC, I don't even like the idea of having to ever play professionals and/or slimeballs, which makes tonight's game vs. Calhoun bothersome also.

I know if a kid transfers out and is in "good standing" it doesn't affect the APR, don't know if the same is true if they leave for the NBA.

I loved when he commented that the 2010 NBA draft was the best day in UK basketball history. Translation: the goal of their program is NOT to compete and win SEC championships or NCAA championships. The goal of their program is to get people to the NBA.

Its not about grad rates. Lance left the program in good standing because he finsihed all of his classes in the winter and spring quarter. Whereas Greg Oden did not because he didn't finish his classes during the spring quarter. OSU took an APR hit. UC did not.

But, as Chris said, did they take a cap hit?
