USM merits a spot in the Liberty Bowl. I hope you get it.

I think I speak for the rest of the Big East when I say that Southern Miss deserves a spot at the table, as does ECU. Unfortunately, TV markets rule the day.

Agreed, USM could do some amazing things with BCS money.
Oh, and following the logic of this thread, UAB deserves a spot too.

We had a decent TV market today.

USM has a very good football team. Even so, the Big East has identified three other schools/programs with a higher long-term value.

Except what USM has been doing the last 20 years says otherwise. Its a mistake to equate value with media markets...which is the same mistake the Big East keeps making.

RE: OK Big East
There again is the problem with the Haves and the Have nots. BE ,CUSA, MWC all currently are the Have Nots even though the BE currently has an AQ, the HAVES want to take it from them to only make more money for themselves. Great teams get overshadowed today by Greed . Big Market conferences, not always big Cities, IE state Flagship schools, already make up most of the Big Market share, IE, AQ conferences. The Little guy has No representation anymore . No leveling of the playing field unless You go Undefeated and even then You can get knocked out of the BCS title game by someone whom didn't even win their own conference. I hate Big Government, but like redistricting congressional districts, the little guy is given status to have a voting voice. The same should go to The AQ designation. At least should the BE lose it, that AQ could float around to one of the remaining conferences that has the highest rating that year and not given to the Superpowers.

The recent trade is not a mistake. Regarding media market:
Pittsburgh top 25
Syracuse top 100
Morgantown top 150
and gain
Houston top 5
Dallas top 10
Orlando top 25
It is a good trade!

RE: OK Big East
WVU was a national brand despite being in a small market. USM had a great win yesterday but that doesn't change what they are. If there is a CUSA that is getting overlooked it is ECU. They have a much larger stadium than USM and actually sell it out. If Boise State backed out and the western division never materialized than USM would be a fit, but if the aim of the BE expansion is to get the best team available that is still Boise.
