They were on the field the entire game due to Rutgers not respecting (and rightfully so) Munchies passing ability. The guy sucks major. The defense gave up after the 10th 3-and-out. Give the defense a break. We couldn't run because there were about 9 in the box. Munchie has terrible throwing mechanics, the ball is a sinkerball with no touch. He has no desire to win to me. Even when he scrambles, he doesn't fight for extra yards (*****). He holds the ball far from his body so he will be a fumble machine. He sucks. If the other quarterbacks can't be him out, their scholarships should be revoked immediately.

They were on the field the entire game for one reason and one reason only - they couldnt' get off of it. What was Rutgers 3rd down efficiency? How many punts did Rutgers have during the game? For UC to win with the back up QB in there ( no matter which one you pick) they are going to have to win the battle of field position. That means the defense HAS to force 3 and outs. They didn't .

Munchie Anderson....Chazz Legeaux...

Or was that Colin Carey with dreds?

He sucked.

Get better or get your butt back to WR. If this is the best we have Coney better be all world.

He better be or we're screwed. I gotta imagine recruiting has taken a big hit over the last two weeks.

RE: Cincinnati vs Rutgers game thread
This game is on the coaching staff and the poor execution of the game plan from the offense.
If Munchie can't get the job done, then why aren't we trying our other options?
Clearly, we couldn't have looked any worse today..so why not try something different!!?
Luallen or Kay? I think we all want to see what they have got!
Kay looks to be 100% and has put his time in, give the kid a shot.
Or Luallen, I really don't care.
Change it up CBJ. Munchie had his shot to shine, let's see what the other QBs have in them.

Not ready to give up on Munchie from a career standpoint but I would give Kay and Luallen a look over the next two weeks. I would lean towards Kay because you need a kid that can throw the ball in college football today. Luallen should get a few looks to change it up.

Lets try to get a piece of the Big East Championship, which would still be a heck of a prize for this program. Win the last two and get the third championship in four years and a bowl game.

I agree. Munchie is young and a lot was riding on his shoulders today.
But you wonder what Jones was thinking today and why he didn't change things up when he was struggling. Obviously you want a coach that believes in their players, but at this point we need to win and Butch needs to look at his options- especially at this point in the season. I guess we will see what happens this week during practices. Let's hope our game plan for next week will be better executed and UC comes home with a W.

I am curious. At what point was the coach supposed to come to the conclusion that Munchie needed to be replaced. Q1 when the score was 7-3? Q2 when the Rutgers offense was on the field for almost the entire quarter? Bring in a new guy that didn't prepare all week to be the starter in the 2nd half after the first half when the score was 10-3? OK Q3 was not a good quarter. 2nd half - Munchie had very little time to do anything as Rutgers was blitzing on just about every play either a run blitz or a pass blitz.

I am not trying to defend the play of Munchie yesterday however I am curious to know from all the coaches out there when the moment that said you have to replace Munchie with a guy that hadn't played a down for UC this season (Key) or the Ga. Tech transfer who reportedly has alot of trouble passing the ball?

RE: Cincinnati vs Rutgers game thread
I'm going to try to find any bright spots from that game. I was working yesterday, and I have only watched the first half on DVR, not sure if I will make it through the rest. Once again, I think Munchie stung himself with a bad play right off the bat that shook up his confidence. His footwork on his drops looked better than in the WVU game, he seemed to be throwing to the correct receiver most of the time, and he did not try any dangerous or stupid throws. However his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired, his receivers seemed to be expecting the ball at different spots and at different times in the route, and they did not make the tough catches for him. Also, his ball seems to always be on a downward trajectory, leading to more tips at the line, tough catches, and no YAC. Not sure if he is overcompensating after the pick against WVU or the coaches are trying to keep his throws down to avoid overthrows.

Think about it though- Why did Rutgers have the ball so much, and why was our defense on the field for the majority of the game? It's because we couldn't do anything with the ball offensively. I'm sure all the backup QBs were given more reps than usual. Preparation is on the coaches, and all backup QBs should be prepared to be put on the field.

The defense was on the field the whole game because they couldnt' get off the field. I have ask this once I will ask it again - What were the 3rd down conversion stats for Rutgers? They had a 21 play drive that took up most of the 2nd quarter. Not getting off the field on 3rd down is on the defense no matter how badly you want to crucify a back up QB or a coach.

So your the coach getting a kid ready to start his first college game on the road against the #1 defense in the conference and you are going to have 3 guys prepared to step on that field by giving them all reps with the first team during the week? Really?

While your looking at the film for all those 3rd downs the defense could have gotten off the field with can you count the number of drops the receivers had yesterday? I guess the coach should have had those guys better prepared to catch a ball also?

Interestlingly enough BK was highly critisized by ND supporters last season for not changing the play-calling or having a scaled down package designed for his back-up QB the game after his starter went down.

I can't speak to that b/c honestly I quit following the man once he bolted but all I know is that while at UC, no matter the qb, he made them look like heisman candidates.

When did you start following him? Did it include the Chazz vs Rutgers game?

That was the worst QBed game for UC I can think of since Pitt in 06. This one was actually worse. I mean Collin Carey bad. Don't care who was coaching. That dreck transcends scheme or play calling.

This one was not worse. This was on the road, playing from behind, without Huber and a secondary that was going to graduate to the NFL. It was really bad, but in my opinion no worse.

I agree. As coaches what can you really do if the QB is that bad? I mean seriously. I watched the game again and this kid is just an awful Quarterback.

He does not do any one thing well, he does everything badly. I dont know if I've ever seen a QB with worse mechanics. All you need to say about this is he had 4-5 passes blocked at the LOS and he's about 6'4!!!

He telegraphs every pass, does not look off his primary WR, has no accuracy whatsoever, terrible footwork, terrible throwing motion, slow release, bad delivery.

The only thing that will have me pissed off at the staff is if they stick with him. The next 2 two years are going to be really long and really frustrating if this guy is the QB. There is no way they dont have a better option at QB next season nor for these last 2 weeks.

I agree. I don't care what plays you call or what scheme you design if your QB insists on throwing every pass as hard as he can and and his release is basically on the downward motion the ball is either always going to be shin high on the WR or just totally uncatchable. Say what you will about Zach's decision making but at least he knew how to put some touch on the ball, while Munchie takes the strong arm ability a little too far.
