Just giving you the truth. He runs a 4.4 40, has great hands, and his team hasn't won a game in forever. You do the math, it ain't just me making this statement.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011
Here is some info I rounded up for you guys this morning...
RivalsCNee Miami (Fla.) Northwestern LB Demetrius Allen is visiting Idaho State this weekend. #WMU #SIU
RobKazmier @RivalsCNee How do you see Western Michigan finishing up down there??
RivalsCNee @RobKazmier Speedy Hall, Trevor Ishmael, and Demetrius Allen. Rontavious Atkins is apparently up there, likely to switch from #USF.
RobKazmier @RivalsCNee Gotchya, well USF dropped Atkins for the most part.. they offered a grayshirt because he is close on grades I guess.
RivalsCNee @RobKazmier Yes. That is what it sounds like pertaining to Rontavious.
I think the staff will finish strong in Florida!

Hm. Just browsing the last few weeks' worth of this thread, I've rarely seen such doom n' gloom regarding a recruiting class.

Doom and gloom?
Likely to be the best class of WR's ever. One of the best LBer and DB classes. Strong at OL, DE, and DT.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011
Just noting several instances of people lamenting how few verbals we have, how few MI recruits we have, not ranked in the top 10 in the MAC, "battling EMU", etc (both here and on MLive comments). Not saying it's gospel truth, it's just message board banter. But there seems to be some pessimism floating around, whether it's warranted or not.

Sign a bunch early and you're settling. Sign a bunch late and you're competing. Emu? We haven't gone after one player that EMU wants.
WMU did a study a few years back that showed 45 players play 80% of the plays. You don't have to be a 100% when it comes to recruiting, you need to find a few play makers, and some solid position guys. If you're correct on 1 out of 3 you're going to be competitive.

he was before he committed to Northwestern back in the fall. After that, maybe some interest, but he was never offered a second time.

You believe wrong. Cotton has never been on WMU's board, was never invited for a visit. And if you really think the 34th best DB in the country is heading to EMU's empty track and field stadium you're nuts. There's a reason he's heading to EMU, and it isn't because he's a top 50 player at his position.

Well Cotton is rated in the top DB in the country by either Scout, Rivals or ESPN. The same services that show WMU offering Cotton. I didn't say he visited WMU I said he was offered by WMU.
But Cotton isn't the only quality player EMU has pulled out of Chicago in this year's class.

I repeat he wasnt even actively recruited by WMU. Trust me when I tell you I know every player WMU has recruited since last May, he wasn't among them. He was a QB for the most part. It's not like people looked at him and saw a great DB. They see an athlete.
But the kicker is he's going to EMU, perhaps the last choice of any recruit in the country.

It just never seems to translate into results.

I changed my mind about the secret recruit. I first thought it was Dominque Rhymes, now I think it is Milton Hanna. He is no where to be found in any database, but his highlight video on youtube is very impressive. Especially because he is about 6 foot 3 or 6 foot 4 and really athletic.

I think we lost Ranell Hall to UCF...would have really been nice to land him alongside our other WR recruits

I think his name is misspelled in the database. Agree on Hannah though.
