I think nearly everyone was fine regarding the Gators. You have a classy fanbase if this board is any indication. I hated seeing your great season end so badly but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thrilled to see Tebow end as he did.

I'll be pulling for you (except against Boston College) from now on. I want to see you reach the potential as a program that you've shown so far.

Good luck!

At least the gator fans on this board have some class. Meyer is a dirt bag. Can't believe he kept trying to run up the score that 2nd half. And that time out on 1st a goal from the 1 to set up his defense??? Late in the 4th quarter up 34?? What a douche.

Some positives to take home at least. Cincy played Florida even in the 2nd half. 21-21

And those 21 points? Are more points against Florida in one half then any other team Fla played (sans Alabama) ...put up in a whole game.

Why should they let up? A BCS CFB game is a man's game, not UC vs WKU of UF vs SE Louisiana state. Florida can do whatever it wants in games like this. Like it or leave it, they deserved to do whatever they wanted considering Tebow was out of the game too.

I never said they should let up. Although others in here have said that they did.

RE: Sugar Bowl Game Thread
The game tonight pretty much illustrates that the Big East is not ready for primetime football against the likes of the SEC or the Big Ten's best.

Totally embarrassing. I was hoping we'd make it respectable, not for my sake, but for the players sake, and UC's reputation in terms of improving and being a player on the national scene.

Neither was accomplished in my book.

I honestly couldn't wait for the game to be over. I was hoping Florida would not continue to score and make us look bad. They did.

Our D couldn't stop my grandma. I knew that going in but was hoping for a miracle.

We got what we deserved. That's what happens when you're head coach leaves for Notre Dame and the guy running the show is leaving for Buffalo. Pretty much expected. Nobody associated with this year's success, in terms of coaching, had any true need to connect with this game. They probably expected to lose and didn't want to put in the effort to avoid it.

I feel sorry for the players dealing with coaching turnover. Maybe the game is respectable with BK at the helm. Or maybe not.

RE: Sugar Bowl Game Thread
Just go back from NO. Haven't had the fortitude to watch it on dvr yet, but here are some of my observations from the game. It seemed the gripe over the second half of the season was that the D couldn't stop the run, yet we held our own a lot of time on runs on 1st and 2nd down, but got scorched every time with passing on 3rd down. Just couldn't stop them. This, coupled with offensive misfires in the first half along with with a bunch of 3 and outs in the second quarter doomed us.
After watching warmups before every game this year and comparing to this game, they seem to have lost their swagger in pre game. Some of it is bound to be due to no BK. It's kind of like trying to get a dog to follow commands after their master suddenly is gone. There's just something missing without that intangible sense of familiarity and authority that can't be established in a few weeks with no games under a new HC.
I'm going to bed. Goodnight.[/align]

Well Cats, THANK YOU for a great season with great memories.

I remember the 70's, 80's and 90's and I'll take this any day of the week. Now, hit the recruiting trail and get some speed, especially for the defensive backs.

I just wanted to congratulate the players on a great season. They've had alot to deal with the past few weeks with the coaching turnover. I wish it didn't end this way.

But we'll always have the regular season and that incredible Pitt game as solid memories.

A tough loss to stomach for sure, Bearcats, but a great season for you, no doubt.
I've had a good time the past couple of weeks posting on this board, and I'll be back from time to time to say hello.
Good luck next season. By the way, Butch Jones's interview tonight showed what a great coach he is. You are rightly excited for his tenure to begin.

A disapointing finish but I'll sign up for 12-1 and a BCS bowl loss next year right now, it was a helluva ride. Florida was pumped last night and they obviously have some NFL quality players on that roster. Couple that with an ineffective UC defense and there ya go. Hopefully Santa brought us some decent DB's during the recruiting season, I'm pretty happy with what's coming back on offense next year.

Florida did actually let up on defense. Most people wouldn't notice, but since I follow the Gators so closely, I could definitely see it. Markihe Anderson is our 3rd string CB and he was on the field most of the second half. The last possession for you guys we had all of our backups in. We also didn't come with blitz pressure. I'm not trying to minimize your team's efforts, I admired your team's determination and you guys still played well. You just can't assume our defense didn't let up if you don't know our personnel. And as far as running up the score, you guys came back from a 21 pt deficit against Pitt and if you're right, that was on our 1st team defense. There's no way we would let up with the threat your team poses, and I think that's actually a complement to your offense. Meyer said he wasn't going to let up because you guys were too good to be lulled into a false sense of security. Meyer and Gators fans did and still do respect the Bearcats.

Great post... but, the Big Ten's best would have been similarly annihlated. OSU was outscored by the exact same margin (41-14) by UF three years ago, and that UF team wasn't in the same area code as this one.

They didn't take Tebow out until the final possession. But, I am fine with it, anyhow. It sure forced us not to quit.

I would have liked to see us play two halves like the second. It wouldn't have been QUITE as bad.

RE: Sugar Bowl Game Thread
alabama may have beaten florida but i am pretty sure the best team in the country was playing last night. had florida played like that against alabama uc would have been playing bama last night. sure our defense didnt play the best and they lack talent, but tebow was on.

i think things may have been a little different had uc not screwed up first drive. not win mind you but more oklahoma game like.

florida would have beat every team in the country last night by a lot.

uc is obviously a ways away from being elite. but thats ok. we dont need to win the sec. just continue winning or challenging for big east title. keep building the fan base. keep building upon recruiting in cincinnati. just think had uc been able to win a kid like kuechly how much that would have helped the defense this year and the coming years.

fans can not let down if we want to continue to grow and build as a program. and i think the fans did awesome this year.

to the players, great season! great fun watching you guys. so many memories. and looking forward to next year.

Playing Florida is not same as beating one of the Oregon schools. We know that first hand.

Florida never let up on defense. Not one bit. And I wouldn't expect them to. But just because there were a few substitutions you say so? Half the Florida players got layed out at one point or another during the game... so some of those substitutions were forced. Who ever was in there is expected to play. No one ever lets up.

It was classless though for Meyer to take that time out to set the defense on 1st a goal from the 1...with a 34 point lead and 6 minutes left in the game. That was purely an attempt to rub it in. They weren't going to stop Cincy. And it didn't matter if they didn't anyway.

And your contention about Cincy's comback ability is BS too. Sure Cincy has a potent offense. But Fla's last TD at the 8 minute mark of the 4th put them up 34. No freaking way the game was in doubt. And Tebow got it airing out the deep ball again. If Meyer had any class...he would have simply run out the clock. Both announcers even commented on it.

But he doesn't. He's a douche bag. Only a Florida homer or Cincy hater could see it any other way then what it was.

RE: Sugar Bowl Game Thread
In fact...I even think the refs felt the same way. When Florida took the ball 60 yards to the Cincy 10 with 2 minutes to play. The refs called back to back false start penalties on Florida. Maybe they happened, maybe they didn't. I know I didn't see them. But the look and tone of the ref on the 2nd one...and the look on Meyer's face after the second one shouted out to me that a message was being sent to him.
