New UC President
Somewhat surprised not to see any posts on this yet, but UC named Gregory Williams as their newest president.
Not much about him out there other than what we see on the press release. Also another president with ties to OSU.
Thoughts?

RE: New UC President
His comments:
“To all the faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of UC, I look forward to working with you very soon,” Williams said. “There are few institutions in the United States that can match the diverse resources of the University of Cincinnati. It is a research powerhouse with outstanding academic programs, committed alumni, a proud community, and a world-class faculty truly dedicated to student success. The University of Cincinnati is truly among America’s premier urban research universities and we are going to make sure the world understands it.”

Of course as Bearcat fans we are anxious for his comments regarding athletics, but I doubt that will come until November unless we see an interview with him before he actually starts working at UC.

RE: New UC President
I hope and believe he'll be very supportive of athletics. One of the first things he mentioned in his speech this morning was watching the Rutgers game on Monday with one of his sons. He also played football and basketball at Muncie Central, worked at two Big Ten schools (Iowa and OSU) so he's seen big time athletics, and has two cousins -Jay and Johnathan Hayes - who are assistant coaches for the Bengals and I believe were in attendance at this morning's Board of Trustees meeting.

On WLW's noon news they said he commented Huggins would not be rehired. I don't know whether the new department was joking or if he really was asked the question.

RE: New UC President
Bad hire
Quote:Williams, 65, an attorney with a doctoral degree in political science, is a product of a biracial marriage and considers himself to be African-American. He is well known for a memoir titled, “Life on the Color Line: The True Story of a White Boy Who Discovered he was Black.”
Pompous liberals that spend their entire existence talking about race write memoirs called “Life on the Color Line”….i.e. Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton. This man will spend more time worrying about race and diversity than effectively running a university.
Quote: “The thing that President Williams did here was prove that you could raise admissions standards and maintain diversity,” Edmondson said. He believes that students who need help should be able to get it here,
Example 1A of my concerns. Here he is worrying about diversity when raising admission standards. The whole idea of racial equality should mean that he shouldn’t be considering race when raising standards. The standards are the same for whether you’re white or black or green so why does it need to be discussed when talking about raising them.

If you want to get a sense of this new hire check out the following video. It's part of a lecture series where he discusses his book, "Life on the Color Line - The True Story of a White Boy Who Discovered He Was Black." I found it worth my time.

He's like a bizarro Michael Jackson. Wonder if he has a thing for old chicks.

Maybe this will help with his cousin Jay and his son Jesse:
Quote:Jesse Hayes – DE – 2011
Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller
Pledge: Open Class of 2011
Jesse Hayes may have a major advantage as his father is Jay Hayes defensive line coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. Hayes has great size at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds and shows advanced skills coming off the edge. Hayes also showed

Talk about an overreaction. The point made is that it doesn't have to be an either/or proposition. One thing worse than a "pompous liberal": an ignorant, bigoted conservative. The man was Dean of Ohio State Law School. What have you accomplished?

I totally agree, and I very rarely do it. Unfortunately, some posts are outrageous enough to warrant it. ps: I'm no fan of OSU, but it's a good law school.
