Surprised he is NIU's 1st. But then I noticed it's only 4 this year and one of them in this year's class is Orel Hersheiser. Would have thought he would have been a long time ago.

MAC Hall of Fame

Quote:The Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame was approved by the MAC Council of Presidents at their meeting on December 2, 1987. The charter class was inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame in 1988 and subsequent classes were added in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1994.

The MAC Hall of Fame was reintroduced in the spring of 2012 with a six member class, while the 2013 class and 2014 class each contained seven honorees. The 2015 class included five inductees, the 2016 class added four members and the 2017 class enshrined six others as the MAC Hall of Fame now consists of 87 inductees
.

Like weekend football games, the MAC HOF doesn't seem to be a priority.

I just peaked at the illustrious online MAC HOF, immediately saw a listing for Bill Mallory http://getsomemaction.com/hof.aspx?hof=10

Am I confused? They said Turner was NIU's first.

Ryan Diem deserves some consideration for this esteemed group.

I would not be surprised to see the Pa Jama man be induced at some future date as well.

Absolutely Ryan Diem should be in the MAC HOF, as should any player with an illustrious NFL career as he has had. As we all know, the MAC has no clue what they are doing. And, as such, I would for sure expect PJ to get in, with flashing strobe lights and a cast of his hands on display.

I would assume HOF consideration is based strictly on an athlete's MAC accomplishments and has nothing to do with NFL (or any professional) experience.

Turner and Diem both had great careers in the MAC. I don't dispute that.

I was addressing your comment "as should any player with an illustrious NFL career". I don't think NFL accomplishments, or lack thereof, should have any bearing on an athlete's MAC HOF nomination. I'm sure there are a number of excellent MAC players who never even played in the NFL.

+ 1 also there are many great college athletes from Major conferences with many accolades that were total flops in the NFL.
