Marshall might choke too. Only up by 5 with a little under six minutes to play.

Lunardi has us as a 13 against West Virginia in San Diego. I guess that's better than having to play them in Pittsburgh.

Interesting article on where P5 conference tournaments are played compared to school locations. Relates to our situation. I emailed the writer and asked if he could do the analysis for CUSA to see where the geographical center of our conference is and where we should technically play our tournament. We shall see if he responds.

Pretty sure an ODU fan posted on the main board yesterday that geographic center was near Little Rock

But freaking UTEP throws the 'geographic center' too far west. Ignore them. They'd have to travel a long way no matter where it is. So if they ignore UTEP that should bring it east of the Mississippi river. I'd guess somewhere between Jackson, Mississippi & of all places Birmingham, AL.
Looking at a map of all locations if you do factor in UTEP, Memphis would be a good location.

Since Marshall is now top 100, does Marshall winning the tourney help our chances at the NIT?

I would think not because it would throw Western into the NIT. If MT goes to the NIT and Western we would have no shot as a third team. I would expect if it's between us and Marshall we would get the NIT bid.

That isn't how it works; they dont select on quotas, though I hope we don't get in. Aside from a new AD and a new coach, they need a long off-season of self-reflection.

Best case is MTSU and WKY in NcAA, us in NIT, and Marshall in CIT

Anyone else going to help themselves to an epic basketball tournament final with a precious NCAA berth on the line?
Who do we want to win? WKU or (is it Marshall?)
I’m not going to watch

I don't get this. We were the third best team in this conference. Did you honestly think, all things going as expected, we were going to win this tournament? I sure didn't. We were able to beat all teams below us, and lose to all teams above us. That's pretty normal. The only exception was W&M and VCU. W&M had their best shooting night of the year and VCU is tough to beat at home, I don't care who you are.

Of course I didn't expect to win, I just held my tongue until it was over. Third best team in the conference at this point in this conference is unacceptable.

Why is that unacceptable? What makes you think that yearly conference championships are somehow our birthright? As if other teams don't recruit, prepare or don't count. Finishing second, to me, means we finished above where anyone thought we would. That's a successful season. Sure I would love to go to the "big dance" but the guy's played hard every game. And truthfully, that's all I can ask of them.

Because it was the climax of JJ's first wave of recruits that were all upperclassmen. This wasn't a rebuilding year.

This may be the most astute comment I have read here in a very long time. Our fan base often acts as though we have Elite Eight banners hanging all over the Ted and that we are suddenly falling short of past successes. Last I checked, we have never gone past the second round of the NCAA Tourney. I am disappointed as hell we didn't win the CUSA Tournament, but I refuse to look at this season as an outright failure.
