This game tonight is why you never bet any big money on a Mick Cronin team advancing very far in March. Never happened and it isn't going to happen.

I don’t see why Wichita is so critical.

Critical for a ton of reasons, as related to seeding and winning the league.

Also, I guess you don't have family, friends, and co-workers who are Xavier, UK, and OSU fans that tell you how your team doesn't beat anybody and whips up on scrubs every day.

UC's guards were out shot and outplayed. UC got nothing from their bench tonight.

Houston was relentless on defense and made their shots. They earned the win.

Very true, kudos to them. Cronin had some very questionable lineups down the stretch imo. Down by 4-5 in final minutes with Scott and Jenifer on the floor? Oh and where was broome for like the whole game?

The refs completely controlled that game with terrible/missed calls both ways all night long, neither team could find a rhythm. But congrats to Houston, they are a very solid squad and deserve the comfort of knowing they are in the tourney.

Tough loss, Cats.

At least you can't blame it on the refs. Looked like those three had money on you.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Sunday against Wichita is absolutely critical. We want an outright conference championship. Winning against Wichita on Sunday makes an outright conference championship incredibly likely.

We also had only 3 assists in the last 30 minutes of the game. That is UConn bad...

We NEED Cane Broome to run this offense. Jacob Evans at PG is NOT working.
Broome is not the answer. He just flustered too easily and it's all down hill from there. We need a real pg that is somewhat of an offensive threat.

And a loss would send most of us to Defcon 1

Jennifer scored 7 points on 2-4 shooting with no turnovers. Unless you mean Evans who was pretty bad until garbage time.

Broome went 0-0 with 0 points and only saw the court 7 minutes more than I did tonight. He can’t get separation from physical defenders on the perimeter. Not sure if I saw him after he fouled the guy on the 3 pt attempt.

Over under on his minutes against Wichita is 11. Their guards may eat him alive.

This is why offensive minded teams always do better in close games. This probably also explains why X always seems to pull out of close games and we fold. They just make tough shots and free throws. Most teams get scared and make mistakes at the end of the game and can't hit shots. They take advantage of this and also capitalize on opportunities. I hate to say it, but that's the truth.

Did you watch the game or just the end? The officiating was horrible and inconsistent for 40 minutes.

Do they still do a shared conference title or are there tie breakers in place now?

Shared, tiebreakers only for tourney seeding.

Agree with this. I'm still not giving up on a successful run. As little confidence as I have in a Cronin coached team, I still think this is his best team and they should still get a nice seed. Plus a weaker tournament field should help.

Idk. But a shared title would be a loss given where we sit now.

Definitely agree. Sunday is enormous. 1-1 this week is fine. Running the table even in the AAC is hard. Get the win Sunday and you're in great shape hitting the home stretch.

We’ll see. Lose Sunday and a shared title might be something we look back on fondly.

Honestly Houston is the only team that showed a pulse since the Florida game (both games). We had some confidence against them at home and were able to pull away, but no confidence in their place. We really did not look good the last 30 minutes. There's been some glaring weaknesses with this team all year that have been covered up against lesser competition. It's just hard to see them when you are pounding some team by 30.

Marshall and Co. will be ready for the environment. I hope we have the offense.

Also, why the heck can't JC hit wide open 3's that matter?

Cronin was not happy with the officiating. He knew the Houston game plan was to foul and they would get away with it tonight.

But he also is critical of UC's shooting, rebounding, and having only 7 assists.

I hate shared titles. Work back through head to head match ups and pick a damn winner.
