UNC-G was 17th.
Just curious, where are you getting Southwestern from? Isn't it the Ragin Cajuns of Louisiana Lafayette
Yes, the one and the same Rajin' Cajuns. When I was growing up, they were Southwestern Louisiana. They were re-named Louisiana-Lafayette only in 1999 - recent times in my world. And only more recently they've gone by UL *at* Lafayette. And only very recently (1 or 2 years ago??) they began calling their sports teams just "Louisiana", and apparently many or most people have bought into that. Seems pretentious (*and* confusing) to me, kinda like "The" Ohio State University, for example. How come *they* get to go with it and the other directional universities there (in LA) don't? (I'm sure there's a story behind that.) But since *I* think that's confusing, I'll stick with the older names. Generally, I've been using LA-Lafayette (I think) on this board, when discussing Tirade, or discussing other mid-majors.
But like UTC calls themselves "Chattanooga" now, "UTC" is just so much simpler and easier to type out. I've tried to split the difference by going with "Chatt", which I think works. But I'll still use "UNC-G" for that school that just beat us, partially to tweak their noses just ever-so-slightly, but mostly because all my adult life that's what it's been. And I'll forever call the Big Awringe school "UT" rather than "UT-K", or whatever. And Southwest Missouri State will always be *that* name instead of the recent "Missouri State" - which is confusing and pretentious for the same reason as "Louisiana" is.
I think it's been quite awhile since I've used "the Training School" to refer to University High, but I still hear that from time to time.
Obviously just my opinion(s), and obviously far more than you wanted to know about my historical prejudices.
