RE: Minshew Leaves ECU to Attend to Family Issues
From SECCountry today:

Minshew, who was expected to be ECU’s No. 1 quarterback this spring, told SEC Country that the reason why he transferred from the program in late January was because of an emergency family situation. He sent his release out to schools “within driving distance” from his home in Brandon, Miss. Schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee received his release...

Minshew said he has received some negative backlash on social media for leaving ECU, but he wanted the message to be clear that the reason why he left the university had everything to do with what his family is going through right now.

“I had to come home immediately,” Minshew said. “That’s why I’m not in school this spring. I’m having to take off from everything. We thought about not going back at all in January, but we decided to try it. I went through a month, and it just wasn’t working for me. I’m home right now just working on things. I hope to go somewhere close to home.

“I absolutely love ECU. I’m leaving behind some incredible coaches and great teammates. They have one of the best fan bases in college football. It was certainly hard to leave, but there are circumstances outside of my control. It’s unfortunately been one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I absolutely loved my time at ECU.”

Minshew was a 7th grader on the tennis team when I was a Senior at Brandon. Used to be so scrawny, but really bulked up and grew into a great QB. He's a good kid. Funny and likable. If he says something's wrong with family, I personally would have no reason to doubt him.

Sorry to hear he's had some negative backlash for leaving. Sounds like it's a serious problem and he's doing the best he can to deal with it.

RE: Minshew Leaves ECU to Attend to Family Issues
Let's be honest... he was an average to below average QB by AAC standards. He was absolutely AWFUL in close games. Most of his big performances came in games where we were down big. His one shot at becoming a legitimate college QB came in his first game vs JMU and he absolutely shat his pants on national TV. He was flat out terrible.

This is not a loss for ECU, and is DEFINITELY not a gain for Alabama. The freshman they have is LIGHT YEARS better than Minshew, and if they signed any QB with a pulse for 2018, he will also likely be 10x better.

All this did is clear the way for Holton Ahlers to be our 4 year starter, unless Reid Herring finds a way to win the Spring.

They didn’t sign a QB and there is talk one of their three QBs is considering transferring.

So he'll be 3rd string. No way this kid moves up the depth chart. He just doesn't have it.

Doubt Hurts leaves. The Red shirt Freshman that got busted for DUI is still a better option for 2nd string if Hurts leaves. End of the day they need a warm body for practice and the scout team so it could be a fun year for Gardner if he just wants to soak up the atmosphere and have great side lines view of the Best College Football Program in the Country.
I might go just to work out in their gym for a year. If he gets a ring out of the deal he will have a cool story to tell on the bar stool years from now

The family issue was that he wanted to play for Alabama, apparently. 03-lmfao

Don't blame him.

He wants to "play" for Alabama?

He will never get off the bench, so he better enjoy practicing for Alabama.

After getting killed at ECU over the last 2 years, he may just want a ring and move on.

So it turns out he needed to be closer to his family in Mississippi by moving to Washington State.

The fact he would leave ECU where he is a starter to be the fourth string at Alabama says everything about the state of the program

Tell me where in that article it says he has joined Alabama? Also last I checked Alabama is closer to his family than North Carolina. I know you have a hard time reading and understanding so I’ll answer for you. It doesn’t say it anywhere.

It says he’s being pursued by Alabama *******. What happened between the lines is obvious when using some critical thinking

Since you like to call me stupid pick any sort of intelligence test you wish and I guarantee you I will score higher than you. If I don’t, I will never post here again.

Okay and tell me why Alabama would sign another QB when they have a player who took them to the NCG and a freshman that took over at the half and won in? Sorry but this just seems like “Saban said he wanted 4 and here is a QB that is dealing with family issues near by so let’s start this rumor.” Been around soccer transfer rumors enough to not believe anything until it’s from an official source.

Well I’m no psychic but maybe

“Head coach Nick Saban said Alabama will “probably have a quarterback join us in some kind of way” after the Crimson Tide did not sign a signal caller on National Signing Day 2018.”

If you don’t take me up on my offer please do not resort to personal attacks any more.

Funny who ended up being right in this exchange...but I doubt you’ll reply again now.

With that said, him and his daddy can go kick rocks.

Disclaimer: It is said his Dad issued the Alabama stuff to get more offers.
