RE: Home crowd for WSU
Where the floor was an issue was when we were talking about playing our home games at Cintas. That was where people got all worked up about the floor and I remember several people claiming that changing the floor was a quick and simple process that pro's could do in about four hours or so. I remember being incredulous about that time schedule, but what the hell did I know? But the argument was being made that "wherever we played, we would always be playing on our 'home floor'"...even if it was at X.

More glad than ever that we didn't take X up on their offer to host UC home games because I guarantee you they would have had the big-blue-X out for each and every one of our games. I don't mind NKU all that much so their floor isn't that big of an issue. Though it feels like yet another promise that was made that hasn't followed through as easily as it was promised. But...small potatoes.

We'll be on our home floor next year and I'm grateful that NKU has been as good a host as they have.

If using a NKU logo floor is UC's biggest issue then they are doing alright. Everyone knows we are playing away from home this year. Really a non issue. NKU has been fantastic to the fans. Their staff has been extremely friendly and amazing.

I wish more people would focus on how amazing it is to have this kind of record and no true home games. We have played all games either away or on a neutral court.

I don't think the NKU floor deal is as big of a deal as many think. Most casual fans and observers aren't looking at the floor. All they are looking at are the players and how many people we have in the stands.

This is what I heard. NKU won't practice on our court, which has meant that they've switched it a lot less than they expected to be able to based on the scheduled games.

It was just announced that an extremely limited number of Standing Room Only tickets will be made available for Sunday's home contest vs. Wichita State for $50 each. All seating is sold out for this contest.

Tickets are available now for purchase online at TheBBTArena.com or in-person at the BB&T Arena box office, pending availability. The BB&T Arena box office opens 2 hours prior to tip-off. For more information, please contact the Bearcats Ticket Office at 1-877-CATS-TIX.

My point is that was lip service.

In quickly comparing the schedules, there was no NKU home game (men's or women's) from Jan 29 to Feb 8. UC had two home games during that stretch (Houston and UCF), and we still played on NKU's court - even considering there was a 48 hour window in between each of our games and the next NKU game. Plenty of time to swap the courts.

Good catch; I've wondered about that too. It's not the end of the world but I think we were sold a bill of goods on the frequency the 'Cats would play on the red and black floor.

Attendance has been a bit strange as well. First we heard season tickets were sold out. Later, I recall mini-plans were sold out. Yet there are seats for sale on game day and plenty that are unoccupied. Although I have to say the crowds look pretty grand compared to conference mate Houston in their (nearly empty) home away from home.

Let's have this team be the first to win a national championship without ever playing a game in its home state! That would become an all-time great sports trivia question for generations to come.

We played one game in Norwood.

Good catch-- never playing a home game in Ohio.

I just got that e-mail too. $50 for SRO. Yikes! Good for them though. I'll be watching from the recliner. Should be a good time for all those that make the trip.

$50 is insane. That area is usually packed to start. Hard pass.

If this is nothing more than a public relations tactic by UC I still like it. It creates a storyline for local and national media about the importance of Sunday's game and the demand for the biggest AAC home game of this season--or any recent season.

Local media attention still seems focused on leading with the "little engine that could" from Norwood. They are deserving of that attention. But not to the extent of giving Cincinnati's major university with historically elite basketball, second billing. Arguably, there isn't enough reporting on either program as attention shifts to pitchers and catchers reporting to prepare for yet another losing season of baseball.

The Houston game was crazy and fun. The rest of the home games have been basically blowouts. Those are fun in their own way, particularly against solid teams like SMU. But this Wichita St. game is the only legitimate top tier home game on the schedule. It should be absolutely nuts.

Norwood may as well be the USSR as far as I'm concerned, so I'm not chalking that up as a game in Ohio.

If I were UC I would play this up. The local media will probably be silent.
