Some probably call me a fool, but I'm not that big a fool. I'd never argue with you over Joe Foley. No doubt the best college coach in the state. No doubt too that Arkansas would love to have hired Joe, but they would never admit that they'd like to have a guy who had previously been at LR.
There is little doubt that when Joe retires women's basketball will be no better than middle of the pack, in the Belt, like all our other sports. Our success in women's basketball is 100% because of Coach Foley.
You don't think Sandra Rushing could get the job done in Little Rock? She already has 500 + wins. Been to the NCAAs past 2 years.
And why would she make a lateral move from Conway to Little Rock?
She probably wouldn't. Just making a point. There are a lot of good coaches out there. I doubt our AD thought when Chris Beard left mens basketball would be relegated to the bottom of the league. Foley will be hard to replace. But he can be replaced with somebody just as good. The AD just has to find that person.

Joe is a "special" coach. There are not many like him in the country. There may be no other coaches who would basically make a lifetime commitment to UALR. It's highly unlikely that are women's program will continue at its current level following Joe's retirement. They'll likely have ups and downs like our men's program. Once Joe got it going I don't think he's really had down season.

He hasn't, a down season for Joe is winning less than twenty and not getting to the finals of the tournament.

Not to say she would, but there could be lots of reasons. 1) The SBC is a better conference than the Southland. 2) LR has better facilities to recruit to. 3) She might prefer living in a larger city, etc. You just never know.
