New WR Coach
Word on Twitter is Tribe have hired former Dartmouth WR coach Jerry Taylor Jr. to take over the same role in Williamsburg. Also served as a recruiting coordinator and is very familiar with VA and the DMV. Looks like he spent some time assisting in last years Buffalo Bill's training camp. I can't help but think he took some advice from a certain NFL coach on possible job opportunities. Seems like a decent hire.

And I'm also guessing Sean would have given Jimmye an honest recommendation on Taylor and Jimmye wouldn't be hiring him if Sean didn't speak highly of him but not sure if Taylor was there when Sean was. He might have interned the summer before Sean got there. We shall see, but it seems like a high quality hire.

I'm looking forward to see how the WR corps progresses under Coach Taylor. There appears to be plenty of potential both on the field and the sideline.

Just from the looks of it...the resume...it looks like better than a decent hire. Semantics, I guess, but this looks like a very good hire to me. Same last stop as Kevin Lewis, defensive line coach and I think he’s doing a really good job. You pointed out the other good points already.

New WR Coach
Question is it just as WR coach, or assistant OC and WR coach as listed on the original job opening announcement ?

RE: New WR Coach
This information could be absolutely true for all I know. But, it hasn’t been announced by the staff and from what I know as of today the players have not been informed yet. It would be nice if the new coach could be introduced to the players by the staff, lol. If true there’s probably a reason the program is waiting to release this information. I just hope a decision is made soon.

New WR Coach
Full disclosure: I've only seen the announcement from one source, so there is a chance that it is just speculation.

However, IMO, it seems too random a selection to not be true. The announcement has been retweeted and liked by many players. I'm sure those players talk amongst themselves and current coaches. Pretty sure they would refute or at least unlike the tweet if untrue. Taylor was a consistent Dartmouth tweeter up till about 15 days ago. Now, it's crickets. My guess is a formal announcement hasn't been made because it wasn't supposed to be leaked yet. It is the start of the signing period and not a good look that the Dartmouth recruiting coordinator kids have been dealing with is gone just before commits get there.

So, nothing official, but it seems too random a report to not be true.

My guess is that the announcement hasn't been made because they are still going through the hiring process which (don't be surprised) may take a while for a state government job....paperwork, background checks, etc.

RE: New WR Coach
I didn’t go through the twitter pages of all of the WRs, but I do the seniors and juniors. I find one like by one player of a Barstool WM account. I am told that is a student run twitter page.

The guy looks good, if the information is reliable.

A 2nd source emerges. A Dartmouth writer tweeted:

"Sources rooted deep inside Floren Varsity House indicate Dartmouth WR coach Jerry Taylor is departing for William & Mary. We'll miss his antics on the practice field."

Still nothing official, but he is recent friends with a couple of W&M coaches and a number of Richmond media.

The Taylor hiring seems a foregone conclusion. I wonder what the hold up is on the official announcement? I'm guessing, as was talked about in this thread, there are a lot of hoops to jump through for a public university coaching hire.

No clue why the announcement is still not official. All mention of Dartmouth has been removed from his Twitter profile and pretty much every Tribe position coach is a recent friend.

My guess is they hired Taylor into a different position than was originally posted so they had to go through the entire posting timeline again. But even if that was the case it seems like a really long time. Oh well, hope he's at least on the field March 19.

I feel like this is a great hire. Coach October was a big personality and all indications are that Taylor fills those shoes nicely. And has worked in good programs in Virginia and afar. And has recruited good players that are good students. Nice fit for the Tribe.

Agreed. He is known as a good recruiter and someone that is a motivator. His players, current and former, seem to really like playing for him
