He has 1039 points. He's 3-4 games from entering the top 40.

Evans just passed Oscar's senior year total. It's absolutely incredible that UC old timers got to watch the best college player ever to that point (and still one of the best few) and THEN two straight national titles.

Clark's shot was broke when he was a freshman, and now he's splashing 3s and shooting about 80% from the line. You could see his potential early, but he's really improved each year in just about every way. He's also a warrior--remember him playing on one leg in the tournament a few years back--and by all accounts a great kid.

And damned near a third consecutive national title, which at the time had never been achieved. My wife and I had our first date the night of that third attempt. We went to Zimmer's Wine Cellar in Oakley, I think near where Rookwood Commons is now located. Met her at Shipley's. In July, we'll be celebrating our 53rd wedding anniversary.

Loved Zimmers Restuarant and Wine Stuba. Remember tha Banjo Brothers and Brass downstairs? It was in Madisonville.

The third title was stolen as the winning shot by Lester Hunter should not have counted. He traveled. He traveled.

i'm pretty sure he's being serious. regardless, i was quite let down by jermaine tate. though my expectations were pretty high. in his defense who woulda thought kenyon would blow up like that? though, i'm being very generous to the guy. in hindsight though, he was the perfect guy for the club. he was born with that bearcat swagger

I haven’t weighed in on this yet and haven’t read the thread. But I’ll tell you that Clark is top 3 Bearcats of all time in my book, and maybe #1. Love his game and love the kid. Love rooting for him. He does so much that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet. If there was a stat that could capture what he means to a team, he’d easily lead the country.

That is awesome. Was the game on TV or did you listen on the radio.

Funny enough, my dad talked more about UC blowing that 3rd title game than he did about them winning the first two. The negative bias of the brain, I guess.

People say that had UC won three in a row that Kareem Abdul Jabbar would have come to Cincinnati. Anyone know how true that rumor is? It never seemed to make sense to me, because UC lost that title game in 1963 and Jabbar didn't go to college until 1966, but I've heard it from many old-school, hardcore UC fans.

I don't know about that.... here's an article from the Atlantic, which indicated it was down to UCLA and Michigan. Some other schools were mentioned, none of whom were UC.

Just looking at the last 5 games...Clark is averaging 15 PTS 12 REB 2 AST 1 BLK 1 STL

The last 3 road games our Defense gave up 48, 38, 55...nice holding teams to 47 points on their home court. 04-cheers

It was Cazzie Russell who ended at Michigan.
Game was on TV.
We was robbed but we started killing the clock too early and lost our MO.

Bolded, I've heard that one too. I've not researched a second statement either but it's at least plausible: that Wooden was quoted as saying if Cincy had won a third straight there wouldn't have been a UCLA dynasty. Now that statement is interesting in light of the first as Jabbar was a big part of that long run of consecutive national titles for UCLA.

It's all ancient history now. What's sad were those lost years after '63 when UC fell from the national spotlight and didn't get many headlines until Catlett's teams in the 70's. I think we may be witnessing UCONN taking a similar tumble right now...

But Russell was a freshman at Michigan in '62-'63, so that one can't be true.

Dixon's point total was because took a lot of shots-- he just had mediocre shooting percentage. His senior year he took 429 shots, but only hit for 37%. Also, he had a knack for getting fouled and went to the line over 300 times in his career.

Jamaul Warren was a JUCO from around that time I think...he's the only one I could think off. Williams was a transfer from Texas, and those were the only two non-recruits I remember from the mid to late 00's. Maybe Jihad Muhammad too.
