One more note: Sunderland was expected to start at free safety for the sooners in 2017. If he does hit the field, he could be a monster athlete at Troy.

If he turned himself in, then he would be presumed guilty. If he gets convicted of the felony, I don't see how he can play for anyone as he will be serving a sentence. Are they banking on them reducing the charge to a misdemeanor because he turned himself in?

Happens all the time with young kids especially for a first offense, I mean it is not like he killed someone or worse used a racial slur in a heated moment....07-coffee3

I remember another transfer we got from Oklahoma. Josh Jarboe. If I remember correctly he was only behind Julio Jones and AJ Green out of high school.

Ended up choking some chick in front of a bunch of people in the cafeteria.

He then went on to have an illustrious career with Arkansas State.

Good times.

I’m not a big fan of signing kids like this, but if he makes the most of his second chance and turns his life around because of Troy taking a chance on him, I say good for him and good for Troy.

Reminds me of Brandon Joiner....http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82957573/article/bengals-rookie-brandon-joiner-sentenced-to-prison

Part of a group who broke into a drug dealer's house and robbed him. Was convicted on robbery and drug charges. Judge granted him probation and a delayed sentence.

Ended up at A-State and became conference DPOY. Made it to the NFL. Was a model student while at A-State. NFL didnt work out but has since entered coaching and is on our staff working with the DL.

Josh Jarboe ended up a A-State and became a fan favorite. Was a great player and student while here. Just took him like three schools to get it right.

He did catch a drug charge a year or so after graduating.

Sometimes people just make mistakes. It's what you do afterwards that counts.

I spoke with Josh after he arrived on campus and he was a nice kid. People make mistakes.

I worked at Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center for a couple of years. It was basically a juvenile detention facility. Some good kids in there too that had done horrible things and had horrible things done to them. Blurs the line quite significantly when it comes to determining what a good or bad person is...

Neal Brown has run a clean program. He deserves the benefit of the doubt that he will be careful with this and not let it become a locker-room cancer or a program embarrassment.

Those of us that defend college football from those that think it detracts from the real purpose of the university by saying coaches mentor young men that often come from blue-collar backgrounds and are vulnerable to going down the wrong path are just uttering empty words if we only want these guys to play for non-DI coaches that don't care a whole lot about what happens to their boys after graduation.

Has already graduated, will have two years to play, as he is a junior.

0.9320 on 247.

Sunderland was rated as the No. 7 safety in the country; the No. 2 player at any position in the state of Oklahoma; and the No. 155 recruit on 247Sports.com‘s composite board.

227th in the ESPN300. He is the second ESPN300 guy we've picked up in the last few weeks.

Full Disclosure: He was booted from Oklahoma on some pretty hefty legal charges. Some of you will make a stink about, but as long as Neal Brown has been head coach, we've not taken in these kind of players. Just saying, before you guys spout off about "Thug U". His academic prowess alleviates some of my concerns, but the legal proceedings appear to be ongoing. Not crazy about at all about this, but I trust Neal brown, and we'll see what happens...

On another note, two grad transfers and five JUCO transfers doesn't make he happy either, but we've done pretty well in that regard so far. Most of our roster were high school recruits.

Most if not all of our Schools have done likewise so if you are Thug U then we are all I guess . . . 03-lmfao

Looks like you're fine as long as you don't care about your video gaming consoles. Why was he that desperate for a few hundred dollars?

Sauce: http://www.normantranscript.com/sports/b...c662f.html

"It was the second time Sunderland has been charged in the last week, and it appears the charges are connected to the same incident. On June 13, Sunderland was charged in Oklahoma County with concealing stolen property, a misdemeanor, after allegedly selling gaming systems believed to be stolen from the OU student-athlete residence Headington Hall, according to court records.

Sunderland was suspended from the team indefinitely, OU announced Monday night. When contacted Wednesday, a team spokesman said OU is aware of the new charge and has not modified Sunderland’s status.

A new arrest warrant for Sunderland was issued Wednesday in Cleveland County, but there was no record of his arrest. It is unclear whether the two charges against him will be tried together or independently.

A court affidavit related to Sunderland’s misdemeanor charge alleges Sunderland sold an Xbox One console, controllers and games, plus a Playstation 4, controllers and games, to CDR Electronics in Oklahoma City for $499.50.

The affidavit states the property was stolen from the on-campus student-athlete residence March 15 and sold that day by Sunderland.

Sunderland signed paperwork at CDR Electronics stating he had owned the equipment for four months, according to the affidavit. The report also states Sunderland admitted to OU police during an interview that he knew the property was stolen when he sold it.

Court records indicate Sunderland received the misdemeanor charge from Oklahoma City police June 13. An arrest warrant was issued June 15.

Sunderland turned himself into the Oklahoma County Jail at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday and was processed and released at 8:30 a.m. on $2,000 bond, the Oklahoma County Sheriff Office confirmed. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 8 a.m. July 20 before Special Judge Russell D. Hall.

Sunderland, of Midwest City, appeared in eight games last season, recording his first career interception in a 45-40 win over Texas.

Many expected him to compete for a starting spot this fall."

*Edit* As a big believer in second through 23rd chances, I'm happy for this kid and for Troy. Just wondered why he needed a few hundred.

We took a chance on Mike Orakpo after he got removed from Colorado State's team.

He was fantastic; until the Navy guy cut blocked him and ended his career.

That's a good story line for ESPN for the Sun Belt Championship game...

Congrats. But.....our OU transfer will whip your OU transfers behind this coming season. Take that!

life is so funny at times and so true, if this kid did not have talent he would never get a second chance at this level. What does this tell your players that are working hard each and every day and doing the right things.

Brad Stevens (Northern State University) once said: "We should always be building a culture of accountability, trust, and togetherness. Entitlement will not be tolerated."

Sunderland is going to have a field day catching passes from him.
