HughesNet Satellite Internet Reviews
Anybody here have experience with Hughes net? We currently have AT&T DSL and it is really not reliable enough. It is the only major ISP available and rural Fayette County. We are looking into satellite Internet, but I haven't found very many people who enjoy Hughes net yet.

When I first moved to Fayette we had to wait 8 weeks for Comcast and I looked into all of that. I didn't find any Satellite services with decent reviews. I'm thinking ATT might be your best option, bad though it is.

yep I have had the same issues. After 11 years we finally have xfinity. During those 11 years I used att dsl that sucked but was still better than the alternatives. A dish representative went so far as to say you are better off with dsl at this point over any satellite service.

I had it when I lived in Scotts Hill and it was the only high speed available. Good download times, awful upload times. I was a gamer and had more success with dial up.

You are better off staying with AT&T. You are paying for a service and if that service is compromised call in for service repair. After numerous reasons from maybe 15 different AT&T people why the service had slow speed, interrupted, or no service at all, or whatever reason, keep calling AT&T for service. After about 10 in home service calls, the last AT&T tech finally got the service to work well. That was over several years total time to finally get it right. Then we promptly moved.

My father-in-law had HughesNet in rural Gibson County for a few years, and finally just got rid of it and added a hotspot to his Verizon plan. It wasn't fast by any stretch, and somewhat unreliable.

Better than nothing, but there are other options.

I've had Hughes and Exede Satellite services in the past. Hated it. It was costly, slow, and didn't work well or at all during rain/storms. Definitely stick with ATT DSL.

Satellite internet should only be used if nothing else is available.

Heck, a 4G hotspot is much better than satellite if you must get rid of ATT DSL.

My mom lives at Pickwick and uses Hughes net. The service is OK but the data caps are an issue as is service outage during rain.

That's what we were going with if Comcast took any longer, a hotspot. Exede's reviews are worse than HughesNet. Like you said, the data caps are killer and it's very expensive.

If your area has AT&T gigapower

Pay the money and get it.

I just switched to AT&T fiber and it rocks. The fiber drop is inside the house. It really zips.

The Hughes satellite internet at Pickwick Lake does not provide a signal throughout the house and the satellite location would have run afoul of HOA rules. 01-lauramac2
