humm, wonder what his draft interest is? not that big for the NFL, I assume he'd be a situational pass rusher.

Announces to leave this early after the season? I wonder if something else is going on. Not even sure he’ll get drafted but best wishes to him. A great player to watch and if given a chance in the nfl, I think he’ll make an impact...

What do you mean, "I wonder if something else is going on"? A lot of players decide pretty quickly after their bowl game.

I think he’s making a mistake...but it’s his right to make the mistake.

Now...is the old rule still in place? If he doesn’t actually sign with an agent, and goes undrafted (and doesn’t sign a free agent contract, of course) can he return to UT for his last season of eligibility?

Hopefully not another Eric Page mistake

If they don't sign with an agent, they can come back. But I dont think there has ever been a player declare for the draft but not sign with an agent.

Would be surprised if he's drafted. Probably get some free agent looks.
Good luck Ola!

It’s great that you can come play for Toledo and get the opportunity to enter the Draft before eligibility is up...I hope Ola actually does get drafted or why else would you forgo your senior season? He was due for a MONSTER senior season dominating the MAC & really making a name for himself to scouts. Certainly could and would have raised his draft stock playing his senior season. What’s his stock now, haven’t seen him on many draft lists.

Well, here’s an article from the beginning of the month that speaks rather highly of Ola.

No, you can't go through the draft and then come back to school if you didn't like the outcome. You can ask to be put on the draft list, and then get the draft prediction from the NFL draft advisory board (or whatever that's called) and then pull your name off the list, but that has to happen long before the draft. I believe the date to declare for the draft is sometime in late January, and if you want to pull your name back, that date is only shortly thereafter.

Remember too that prepping for the draft is essentially a full time job between now and April, so many hopefuls don't even attend school in the spring semester so they can prepare, so if you do that, you technically aren't eligible to play any more anyway.

I wish him luck. I don't know if he has a shot or not, but hope it all works out for him whichever way it goes.

Ola Adeniyi to leave the Rockes for the 2018 NFL Draft
Not sure about this announcement. I agree he was due for a big senior season. I think one more year would help his draft status immensely. I think this is a mistake. He was a good player for us, but not sure he was in that premier category.

Quote:We presently grade Adeniyi as a late-second/early-third round prospect off the game film.

If true, he probably made the right decision.

Every team needs multiple guys like this

If he is third round guy then that is a good call

I think everyone gets predicted to be a 2nd to 4th round draft pick.

I don't know, his business. He's not exactly been up against premier talent to be predicting him that high but a year seems a long time to a kid, he could be looking at all the possibles that could go wrong. Maybe they do that predicting off "measureables?"

I do wish him the best.

Well he was certainly one of the top pass rushers, if not the top pass rusher in the MAC. He seemed to disappear in other situations, but there are NFL players who make a living based solely off of run or pass situations. Best of luck.

RE: Ola Adeniyi to leave the Rockes for the 2018 NFL Draft
he's an edge rusher, end of story. if he's able to continue doing that against the best tackles in the world he will play a long time in the league. measures up similar to james harrison - another situational edge rusher out of the MAC. I like Ola's motor and I think he might be helped by his limitations in the NFL in the sense that he won't be playing every down like he did at UT and will have more gas to rush the passer. I also think Hunt's success might help him a bit as there are a lot of NFL teams that wish they had heeded the script and took Hunt where he was graded instead of pushing him down their boards because he wasn't a P5 back and didn't run a 4.4. Ola might not be as good a player, but he's similar in that he's physically strong enough to play in the league but doesn't have the perfect measurables, just the record of production and work ethic.

RE: Ola Adeniyi to leave the Rockes for the 2018 NFL Draft
I am a bit surprised that he chose to come out early because I thought his stock with the NFL would increase significantly after next year----as it is, there is no guarantee he will even be drafted. Of course there is no guarantee that if he came back for a year that he would be either, or even worse, he might experience a Wasean Tait type disaster. I have zero knowledge about his personal situation but I imagine that financial considerations played a big role in his decision and if it works out it will probably have been the right decision, but that is a big "IF". In any event, I hope it works out for him and I wish him the best.
