Lane Kiffin for a Decade
I was in the car listening to the game, every time they said the name of the bowl game they are in it made me laugh. Not that the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl was better, but I can't believe they gave FAU a home game in Boca. Good for them I suppose, guess they just wanted to sell some tickets locally.
What a laugher. Conference USA continues to not impress.

RE: Lane Kiffin for a Decade
They were joking about this on the Dan Le Batard Show, right after the announcement, and put up on their poll, will Lane Kiffin last 10 months, 10 games, or 10 minutes at FAU? It's great for FAU, though. They have him until someone with deep pockets comes along for him and they will get a nice payout when he does leave. Kind of the same idea as JMU's Coach just signing for 10 years, too. If they have continued success, they will leave and at least the schools will get something for it. VCU thought Shaka was never leaving, too.

Hopefully those new dynamic coordinators will come from Maine. 'Cause those seem to be the only coaches Bobby knows.

Maybe we could look at hiring Lane's brother Chris.

I think a rising tide floats all boats. We saw that in the CAA.

I just googled him as at first I thought he was a local special needs student or something that was beloved by the team. Nope. Just a goofy looking stoked as hell dude, they're wrecking Akron.

Lane Kiffin for a Decade
It’s amazing what lightning in a bottle can do. This FAU train feels almost like VCU’s rise to prominence (post Final Four run).

Similar thoughts. I noticed him during the CUSA championship game but tonight has me wondering if he is on some new age drug.

WOW. That was a 4 hour Lane Kiffin informercial on the day before signing day. Good for them and good for the conference but I feel a little sick.

This is another CUSA fail. Matching your best team with a team they are favored by 23.5 against does nothing for the league. FAU should have been playing FSU and looking to make a splash.

Speaking of JMU, the details of that contract came out tonight. Looks like they're getting an indoor practice facility.

RE: Lane Kiffin for a Decade
I think tonight's result was far from a fail for CUSA. And I'm hoping it helps a lot of teams with tomorrow's NSD. Going to South Florida to play is good. Going to play a squad like that just became a lot more interesting to competitive recruits. If nothing else, we have seen the most obscure bottom dweller rise up and beat the **** out of almost every team they faced this year. Just gotta call it like it is here.
We may be watching Banowski's vision for CUSA beginning to take some form. Because I think there are several proud programs that will bounce back.

I was thinking the same exact thing. In fact, it continued after the bowl game was over too. Ugh!

That was already known with the convo construction, only difference now is they're getting a bubble to use as a temporary facility.

Not word for word but go back and look at the "ODU and A-10" thread. Specifically one goof who said he thought regardless of who we could hire, at ODU "they wouldnt look very good"
FAU just upped the ante so whether Kiffin is there or not, they'll have the money to pay up for someone else. Lets sit back and see how we respond or lets get used to them whipping our ass year in and year out.

Just goes to show everyone what FBS level coaches, with a few key transfers, and a highly rated recruiting class can do. FAU was a mid-level program like ODU. They aimed high and shot through the roof. Many here are happy with 12-14 rated recruiting classes, FCS level coaches, and the status quo. There was NO reason ODU could not have done the same. You are either going to act and spend like an FBS level program or go back to FCS.

Oh but dont you know they returned a ton of talent so they were destined to win with or without Kiffin...
