RE: Coaching Candidates
Warinner may never have been "personally" contacted, but his agent might have been.

That's how these things work.

So Kansas's defensive coordinator Clint Bowen is a candidate? And we interviewed Kansas's 28 year old quarterback coach for the job earlier in the week? Is it possible that footballscoup only has partial information and we were actually interviewing the QB coach as a possible OC coming with Bowen? Maybe we realized bringing a DC in as a HC won't get you far if you don't pair him with a strong offensive mind.

RE: Coaching Candidates
There appears to be a lot of smoke here, maybe too much. This could all be a smoke screen with talks being held with Vince Kehres of Mount Union. Tonight MUU won the DIII National Championship with a 15-0 season. There could be an agreement to accept the position with final negotiations to take place next week. Let me remind everyone that I know nothing and have no inside info. There just appears that there are too many pieces being speculated that do not seem to fit. Of course, with what appears to be a total botch job and our record, anything is possible.

It is time to strike on KC Keeler after his loss today. He has to be tired of losing in the semifinals.

I know nothing about Bowen, but a quick look shows KU gave up 40 pts NINE TIMES this year, including against Ohio and Central. So yeah, he's probably available and interested.

Is anyone else just sitting there and laughing at the futility of this search? Joel wants to fire his HC and he does not have multiple options for a replacement? This is allegedly Joel’s sport. The lack of money and working under this train wreck of an AD is out there and he can’t overcome them. Wow, his contacts at S Dakota St Univ of the Black Hills Southern Campus couldn’t get that coach. You want to say “unbelievable” but it’s completely believable. I can’t wait for them to announce this stellar pick at the KSU/Oregon St game. Call the office next week we shouldn’t tarnish a huge basketball game with this debacle! Example number 5000. Fire Joel

I am laughing, but not at the futility of the search -- laughing at this post. Every report that has come out has been refuted either by the candidate themselves or by another report. How many people do we know for sure that were offered and declined? Being contacted and not being interested is different. And nothing has been publicly confirmed like the Tennessee coaching search. This has mostly been quiet and under the radar except for people who care to follow it and even then it's been considered to be an extremely quiet search.

Too many names, nobody really in the know. It has taken a while, but nobody can definitively claim this coaching search has been a disaster because nobody knows anything.

Maybe Joel forgot about football and forgot that he was supposed to be the one finding a new head coach.

I agree that this search is seemingly a black eye for Kent based on the reports that have come out, and I wish we had someone in place by now, but Danny's not wrong that we should wait to get too mad. I know a lot on here really dislike Nielsen and honestly I don't know enough about what he is and isn't responsible for to have a strong opinion either way. What I do know is he's trying to hire for a really unattractive position and he's shooting 50% on football coaching hires. I remember thinking Haynes seemed like a good hire at the time.

Well said & I agree - - I really wanted PH to succeed but feel like he should have been strongly encouraged to replace his OC two years ago! Let's get KSU football back to being watchable please.

I'm not sure how the time line would work out there since he's currently coaching for a playoff bound NFL team. He would be several weeks away from their season being over. Plus, if I had to guess he's probably focusing on moving up in the NFL now. With Thielen blowing up under him, it's safe to assume his work is appreciated.

Sean Lewis is your new Head Coach. Congrats. Knows offense and is a good recruiter.

RE: Coaching Candidates
This is good for us. I like his background, having MAC experience, from the midwest, good recruiter, under Dino Babers, etc. It is reported that he will bring the Tenn. Chat. defensive coordinator in to run the defense. It sounds like that President Warren was involved with the decision. I will bet that we found some additional $$$$.
