Florida St upsets Florida....
Kind of game that will propel FSU in to the top 25 and hurt the fringe teams trying to get into the rankings.

Ramblers are a pretty respectable team at 9-1 so it's not Chaminade-Virginia, but still, beating a top-5 team on their court is a big big thing.

The top half of the MVC is looking solid so far this year.

Who knew having Wichita in the conference prevented them from having non-conference success the past few years?

It's really now on the rest of that conference to fend for itself. Its two best parts are gone. But, with the A10 really down (and once again, URI comes up short on another one) and the potential for some shake-up in WCC (a fading SOS for SMC), MVC might just grab one more than one bid out of this...if the MWC doesn't take more than a few for its own and the AAC grabs more than its ever had.

the problem for the MVC is that their teams need great raw records, and not sure that they're going to be able to have teams going 14-4 or anything like that.
plus their records aren't as good as they look-as a conference- 14 non d1 games.... And they can't afford to take on unexpected losses, as with the round robin that'll impact the SOS quite a bit.

Yeah, we can marvel at the impressive records of some of those teams, but there may not be much meat to bone for more than a few of those 7-9 win teams. But there's something.
What's intriguing are some of the non-conference games all have nabbed. They kind of spread the gamut of decent to the terrible, but they exist across major and mid-major. That's kind of what one expects from the A10, though, there's usually more big wins sprinkled in there, too. UL-Chicago over UF is huge for the Ramblers and the Valley, though.

RE: Laughable College Basketball Scores- Week 4
The problem though for the MVC is look at the teams-
Loyola- yeah great win over Florida. 8-1 so far vs D1 schools. But vs the current 259 SOS and projected as 258 SOS.
Valpo- 6-0 vs D1 schools. But #267 SOS current projected as 254.
Missouri St- 7-2 vs D1 schools. better SOS so far- #117- but projected to wind up as #191.
Evansville- 6-2 vs D1 schools. #190 SOS so far- projected to wind up #142.
Bradley- 6-2 vs D1 schools. #233 SOS so far- projected to wind up #274.
Northern Iowa- 5-2 vs D1 schools. #25 SOS so far- projected to wind up #6.
really I think the ONLY one that has much of a chance at an at large would be Northern Iowa. next 3 d1 games are huge- tonight vs UT Arlington, then next Saturday with Iowa St, and then hosting Xavier the Friday before Thanksgiving. Need to win at least 2 of those I think.
