Since 2014, Nagy has had 13 individual quarters where the defense gave up at least 21 pts. Those are killers are you are almost certainly out of the game if the defense gives up 21+ pts in a quarter. Nagy is unacceptable.

This isn't on Nagy.

This program needs better players.

Better ingredients, better football.

I mean, we could buy them new cars or pay the parents large sums of money I guess.

ODU had one bad recruiting year in 2015. We lost some valuable commits who changed their minds at the last minute. Wilder had to replace those losses with low level talent. ODU is currently 5th in CUSA recruiting per 24/7 sports.

Unless we upgrade our facilities, we become vulnerable to other programs who can flip our recruits by touting their facilities.

An FBS quality stadium, player lounge or indoor facility would be nice. It's hard to close the deal without them.

There are a lot of factors that go into the decision making process. Former FSU QB and crab leg lover, Jameis Winston chose the Seminoles because he thought the cheerleaders where hot.

Nagy isn't going anywhere.

Good luck.

RE: Fire Rich Nagy
I get the idea that we need better players.
What I don't understand is, if your strength is the defensive line, why do our DB's play 7-8 yards off the line on 3rd and 4? It just does not make sense at any level.
And when your LB's are, let's say "young", you can't have your safeties playing 20 yards deep. They are too deep for run support.
Also, there was a game earlier this year where our DT's crossed each other on a stunt at our 2 yard line. As far as I know, that is the first time in the history of modern football that a stunt like that was called for in a goal line situation.

And as for Brian Scott:
4 things are most likely to happen if you pass:
1. Completion
2. Incompletion
3. Interception
4. Defensive Pass Interference
Throw the damn ball on 3rd and long.

Also, the most difficult pass to defend is a crossing route (if run remotely correct). Why we don't pass the ball over the middle is beyond me. The few times we do is often successful. USE THE WHOLE FIELD!!!!

OK, I'm done. Thanks.07-coffee3

I don't get why boosters don't understand this. ODU needs to seriously upgrade their athletic facilities before they can start thinking about having top recruiting classes in the CUSA.

Isn't this exactly what we are supposed to be doing after next season? We have a chance to build a whole new shiny FBS stadium from scratch. If we don't build something that is impressive enough to get us top highly ranked classes we will have missed a once in a lifetime opportunity. Hopefully we get it right... the first time.

Not arguing against upgrading facilities, but an indoor practice facility hardly seems necessary as we don't have the extreme heat as some of our conferencemates in FL and TX. If such a facility were deemed necessary I don't know where on campus it could fit, or how we would go about paying for it while funding a new stadium.

11 of 13 were in the first half. I understand how lack of offense hurts the defense, perfect example was the Marshall game where we ran out of gas and gave up 21 in the 4th quarter. But giving up that many points in a quarter that many times is unacceptable. We are 0-13 when giving up 21+ pts in any given quarter and when pretty much all of those are in the first half, we are going to lose the game. Why are you sticking up for Nagy? What has he done to prove that he is fielding a good defense? How many times have we had to lean on the D at the end of the game to hold the lead and Nagy failed us?

Your argument of the "tired defense" is pathetic and without research.

At what point did i stick up for him? I asked a damn question -which you didn’t even answer- and your insecure ass got offended.

If you don’t like questions, don’t post.

The easiest place to put it would be where the current practice field sits now. But I don't see it as a necessity at this point. The number one goal should be making sure the new stadium is as nice as possible.

Who owns Powhatan field, ODU or the City of Norfolk? I know that Granby and Maury both use it for home football games.

I agree with most of this but I gotta say, after reading numerous complaints about how deep our DBs play, they just aren't quick enough to play up. When they play up, they get beat deep. It's happened too may times and that's why they give a big cushion. And if they play up then the safeties have to play deep to support. Pick your poison. We need faster and stronger DBs that can play up and bump the receiver and not get beat deep. Otherwise we give up the short stuff to prevent the long ball. It wouldn't be as bad anyway if they could shed blocks and tackle better.

Sounds like you're basically saying we have a talent problem in the defensive secondary. Do you see any relief in sight?

IDK. Maybe someone who follows recruiting more than I can answer that but from what I have read, not much talk about DBs.

Programs in warmer climates are constructing these facilities. It doesn't matter what we think is necessary, it's about the recruit who thinks having an indoor facility is a factor in his decision.
