i wish Coach would let the starters play to the 2nd tv timeout maybe a new starting line up of Bryant-Perry-Cokley-Lee- Sullivan

In today's game, the starters were in a rhythm, and it was called the SUCK rhythm. He should have substituted sooner.

Richmond did the right thing to win. Hit them hard in the first four minutes and these players have never known how to recover. They give up. They did play better in the second half, but that first half, you could see that they were not playing defense, standing around and letting threes fly on both ends of the court.

I beg to differ. We should be trying to build a program and athletic department that will be head and shoulders above the rest in C-USA. Regular season basketball is part of that. Winning helps recruiting, recruiting helps winning, winning helps attendance, attendance brings money, money helps elevate the athletics department. A dominant athletic department is attractive during realignment. Memphis dominated a one-bid league for several years and invested in football. They then moved from a cubicle to an office. We've invested in football and football is winning... basketball would be the icing on the cake.

We're not Memphis, or atleast that Memphis. Just look at that roster and season averages and it tells the story. Those teams had size and lenth at every spot. We lack size and teams that has size beats us every time. We need to get away from this small ball concept and that positionless theme. We lack the basics at times. It's pretty much why I kept my Haase quote in my signature. Refuse to take it down until I see different.

We have yet to invest in basketball like football but that's never been a problem for us. Just look at both Mike's and see we can get into the NCAA and NIT tournaments easily.

RE: Cayman Island Game Thread: Spiders Edition
Memphis started investing in football, and look where their basketball program is now. They are averaging about 4000, down from around 6000. They are picked 9th in the AAC. They have only been able to get one recruit for next year, a recruit rated sub 300 and have been snubbed by higher ranked Memphis based recruits. They have a "hall of fame" coach who has basically retired to Memphis and sits on his ass doing nothing.

The guy had two turnovers, Norton was worse.

Look at his stats for every game and get back with me

Lavenders ratio of minutes played to turnovers is atrocious!

I don't know about assist to turnover ratio ,but Norton has more TO's than Lavender on this short season. So far Norton, Perry,Darling, and Sullivan has more turnovers than Lavender.

1) If Lavender is still playing point, that's on Eshan
2) Norton's 9 assist game came against a D-2 school

3) Don't bother getting back to me.

We are just UAB. We shouldn’t expect to have a team that can stay close to a team that got DESTROYED by Deleware & Jax State.
There are only 4 games that matter to get us into the NCAA tournament.
The rest of these games are irrelevant

Well Buffalo looked pretty good against Cincy. We will get waxed tomorrow unless a very different UAB team shows up.

The season is too young to know what role Lavender is going to play. He played in three games because they were blowouts. He played 14 minutes today in a game where no one could do anything and the coach was trying to find anyone on the bench who wanted to play.

Wrong guy I'm for Lavender playing. Hell I'm for Smallwood and Hurtado playing. Maybe even starting Lavender as the Rob Williams glue guy.

I apologize Robert Williams ,but Hak Baxter is the worst player I've seen play where under scholarship. Rob was a better player than I gave him credit for.

So why play the games if they don't matter? If we beat the teams on our schedule, we go to NCAA Tournament. Our problem has been days like yesterday, we lose to the teams we need to beat, then cry it doesn't matter. It does matter. I never said we were Memphis... I am just stating the fact that winning during the regular season matters. If you win the tournament, the season determines seed. If you don't win the tournament, winning enough games will still get you in, I will believe that until we try it and it doesn't work. Every season we've had single-digit losses, we went to postseason.

The hell they are. The games that come before the conference tournament establish the mindset of the team, the roles, the rotation. Passive, low energy play in the games before the tournament become how the team plays. If you want those four wins, the best way to get them is to learn how to play winning basketball long before you get there.

I think Ehsan is too nice, too much a "player's coach". He needs a meanass old bulldog of a bench coach standing behind him, preferably one with a tough defensive mindset. Those guys should be afraid to come back to the bench when they are playing low energy slack ball because they know that they'll be called on it.

Hell, if they don't want to push hard, let them rest on the bench for a while. That's a tried and true coaching tactic.

This is a much better team than what they showed yesterday, and this nonsense needs to be corrected, the sooner the better.

Ticked off about this loss.

I was looking forward to enjoying a warm and comfortable feeling inside about my basketball team over Thanksgiving.

Now all I got is mashed potatoes.

I'm for Mahkter Gueye getting more minutes, even if he does foul out. At least he is challenging and trying to block shots on the defensive end and getting up and down the court like a gazelle. He is even a three point threat, not hesitating to shoot the three, and drawing a "big opponent" out of the paint when he is out past the three point line which opens it up for our other big's to score and rebound. He also is not one to run up and down the middle of the court. He spreads out wide on fast breaks. Against Richmond, UAB scored zero fast break points. This team is not going to win any games at all by walking the ball up and down the court and playing half court ball.
