UAB transfer Javien Williams has signed with Louisiana-Monoe
UAB transfer Javien Williams 6’4 SG Tallahassee CC (FL) has signed with Louisiana-Monroe.

In other news, former point guard commitment Dayshawn Watkins is not playing at Little Rock this year. And I couldn't find him anywhere else.

After sitting down with Dayshawn for an open dialogue, we have mutually decided that it was best for both parties to move in a different direction at this time," Flanigan said. "Dayshawn has been a model student-athlete for us, earning his bachelors degree from the university. We wish him the best as he moves forward with his future endeavors."

Glad he found a new home and I hope he has a great career in Monroe.

I would think he will be their best player. None of this makes any sense to this outsider

Well, he transferred to either a JUCO or community college first then signs with La Monroe for next season.

Seems to point towards something possibly.

I was kind of worried about him leaving at the time, but I think its pretty obvious now that between Perry, Bryant, and the improvement of Darling, that his role for the next couple of years was going to be reduced.

Is, Smallwood still on the Team. He normally put in 1 or 2 important performances.

He left after the Spring semester last year - before Perry and Bryant were committed. He and Ehsan had a difference of opinion as to how well his freshman season went(per Ehsan).

In 2 games so far at Tallahassee, he is starting and averaging 27.2 min,9.5 ppg, 6 rebounds and 4.5 turnovers. He is 0 for 4 from 3.
He upgraded from the conference #20 to conference #14, right?
Seriously though, I thought he might do better.
It seems that Bryant is much more game ready. And Perry too.
Hopefully they will both continue to look good as the competition gets better.

Williams was a godawful shooter. There's no way around it really - if you play guard and you can't hit a jump shot, you're going to be a very limited player.

He played the last five minutes Friday. Missed a couple of shots. I think he wound up with no points.

Really good slasher, extremely athletic. Not much of a jump shot. I kinda got the feeling that he thought that he should be fed the ball more.

Bryant is worth three of Javien.

He was those things, but he was also pretty small. He couldn't finish those athletic slashing shots with enough regularity to offset his horrible shooting.

RE: UAB transfer Javien Williams has signed with Louisiana-Monoe
Javien should have redshirted as a freshman, then rode the pine for 2 years while working on his outside shot and putting on some weight and he would have been a pretty darn good player in his 4th and 5th years.
In the real world, to get players, you probably have to tell them they are more ready than they really are. I thought he got more PT than he probably deserved last year.
However, Perry and Bryant have only attempted 6 outside shots between them against very weak competition. So they haven't proven themselves as stellar outside shooters at this level by any means.
Perry shot over 40% for 2 years but it was D2 Juco. 32-34% is probably realistic for him this year. More as a senior.
I have not seen any stats on Bryants 3 point % in high school but he seems to have a level of confidence & court savvy that few freshman have. But, I'm not sure he is going to be a crack 3 point shooter this year.

So it's known Javian didn't leave by choice. Let's just say it was a legal matter.

Actually, he left nearly a month after Perry committed.
But I don't doubt he wanted more playing time. Curious about the "legal matter". First I'm hearing about it.

Would not worry about his points he's not their to score points he has a defensive presence on the inside that we neeed against teams with the 7 footers. Just need him to play defense, and be that presence on the inside that's all he need to do.
