The question is, what is the point of a second HQ. If it is the key to their logistics and/or operations, the Memphis would be a good place for them.

Unfortunately, the lack of flights at the airport and big city amenities has to hurt.

I don't think Amazon will go to the obvious place of Atlanta. They could get ATL amenities in Charlotte or Indianapolis without ATL prices.

Atlanta, Austin, or Pittsburgh.

They want a good CS University as an anchor.

University of Memphis is actually pretty good, but not a top 20 school like the others.

That's one reason why Nashville won't be considered. Vanderbilt CS program isn't better than Memphis or UT-Dallas. SAD.

Memphis is surrounded by many major Universities that are within a 3 hours drive. HQ2 would finally give kids across the region a reason to seriously look at locating to Memphis post graduation.

Raleigh, NC ... East Coast time zone. 3 very good universities here in the triangle with several more close by. Cheaper than Charlotte, Atlanta, Boston, DC. Talented labor pool.

HQ2 isn't considering a school outside it's Metro Area in any anaylsis. They want employee's already comfortable with a Metro Area.

And when it comes to Computer Science, in the Mid South. They are all trash when compared to Memphis.

The triangle is fine. NC State is a beast in CS. A lot of GT PhD's end up there.

I spent some time in Raleigh.

Never found a ghetto. It's literally the nicest "big city" I've ever visited.

It would be a great choice.
