Let's remind him about Alabama. We beat Alabama. At Alabama. When Alabama was ranked. He's not at Alabama anymore. Alabama has never beaten NIU.

I’m not offended. Those are his roots. His dream job is probably Alabama as well.

We may be in a situation now given our remaining schedule; a the incredible level the D is playing at, we will need very little offensive production to win out. That's how good our defense is.

I hope this is true but am doubtful The MAC finds a way to chew up and spit out good defenses eventually

Keeping our defense healthy is going to be the true challenge. If we don’t lose any more key defenders to injury we will be alright. Our D- line is the unsung hero. They’re making it easier for our linebackers and DB’s. If they stay fresh we will stay strong on Defense.

I attended the game with my wife and daughter. It was surreal. Just couldn't believe the final score. After halftime, all of us NIU fans just knew something something special was going to happen that day. As we were leaving, a lot of Alabama fans were gracious and wished us luck on our season. They were quite impressed with our RB, Turner the Burner.

What an experience that must have been, just like the folks who just attended the Nebraska game. The sideline reporter for the Nebraska game made a snide comment about "15 NIU fans" being at that game; regardless, I'm sure they were louder than the other 80K Nebraska fans.

Shortly after the Alabama game, I was in a local Costco and was wearing (as usual) a Huskie football t-shirt. An older gentleman (thought he was old, he probably was the same age I am now) was staring at my shirt. He came up to me and said, in that Southern drawl, "You guys just beat Alabama, you have a heck of a team this year". He didn't look happy and was shaking his head when he said it, but he was nice nevertheless.

I still can't believe we didn't make a bowl that year.

Watched the highlights of the Alabama game again and surprised to see Steve Azar is from Colorado Springs. If he ever decides to join this board I'll feel obligated to surrender my moniker as I'm just a transplant to Colorado...

Incredible experience! Surreal.
Had NIU beaten Toledo and been 11-1, 3-1 against ranked teams, the BGSU loss, would have meant that Miami Ohio and BGSU would have locked the only two MAC bowls available.

Every time NIU gets a Bowl invite, I think back to 2003.
Had NIU and Toledo gone bowling, the MAC might likely have been 4-0.
That may have been the highwater MAC Mark of all time.
NIu finished the coaches pole ranked 26th and AP pole ranked 30.
