I personally don't see much if any difference in most of these match ups than a 5-7 or 6-6 P5

Boise Stateß1 34 TCU 31
Cincinnati 32 Marshallß1 14
Kansas 42 Houston 13
Utah 25 Tulsa 13
California 42 Air Force 36
Houston 34 Air Force 28

BYU 24 Tulsa 21
Rice 33 Air Force 14
Navy 24 Middle Tennessee 6
Houston 35 Pittsburgh 34
California 55 Air Forceß2 36
Louisiana Tech 48 Navy 45

The Armed Forces Bowl is a better bowl (not considering the matchups) Higher attendance, Better Stadium, More community support.

BTW the payout for HOD is not twice as much

C-USA is being run into the ground. For me, the only thing this conference now has going for it now is the C-USA West line-up. Losing the HOD has officially relegated C-USA to the level of the MAC and Sun Belt. I'm completely done with MacLeod. I'll be calling the conference office.

What happens if Army doesn't become bowl eligible? Who do they choose from? I'm not that upset about the switch though. I liked the Armed Forces better than the HOD bowl to be honest and there's not really any difference between a decent Army team and a bottom feeder P5 team.

According to this article, the Big 10 was contracted from 2011-13 and then again last year, but not this year. Last year they couldn't fill their spot and it went to Army, thus giving us that rematch with North Texas. Not sure if that factors into it at all.

I would imagine CUSA got something out of it, but what I'm not sure. If Army doesn't qualify, does that lead to a better opponent? Does the Big 10 send a team there first if all their bowl bids are satisfied?

That's what I want to know. Army might not finish 5 - 7. We definitely need UTEP, Rice and North Texas to beat them this year. Make them not want any of CUSA come post season.

In 2014, Illinois played in the HoD because LaTech played them while the CUSA champs chose to play NIU. That would have been out of the aforementioned contract so I'm guessing it was a filler. Just curious how that worked. Thanks for the info.

For those of you who have been here longer than five minutes this is the one group of people I would expect would understand how bowl payouts actually work.

Obviously, I am being proven wrong again.

The HOD has contracted with both the Big 10 and Big 12 to alternate their selection each year. Some years there was not an eligible team and so Army or UNLV or other substitute was offered.
