And, what is this with the fear of a few seconds of quiet while the game is going on? Between plays and until the ball is snapped, the DJ blasts what he calls music. Do people constantly need their senses stimulated with loud noise? I'd much rather hear the HMB, who are the one of the best parts of game day. Plus, they work so hard only to be overshadowed by blaring noise.

Serious question...does anyone enjoy MOST of the music being played in the stadium during the game (not talking about HMB).

...I dont.

IMO for SATURDAY games the only time from kickoff until the end of the game that music should be played on the PA is when HMB is leaving the stands to go do the half time show and when they are finished with the half time show until kickoff of the 2nd half.

YES YES!!! I agree 1 million percent We need to convey this to STF.

Louder is better as it gives the illusion of a big time event. Go to Nebraska this weekend and see how loud things are. Any big time school or Chicago sports teams play things loud. The problem with NIU's attendance is it's fan base is old! I go to so many of the events and at 50 I am usually one of the youngest there. We need more late 20's-40's fans. The older you get the more you need a perfect environment or you won't attend.

I am in section C - just south of the chairbacks & closer to those God awful speakers. They are SO LOUD they are painful & many of us end up having to cover our ears.

There are several problems with the PA system. My husband (we own a pro audio company he knows his stuff) thinks in all likelihood the scoreboard company who installed the scoreboard put in the PA speakers & probably never tuned it. It has way too much midrange & tears our heads off - those of us who are sitting nearer to the speakers. To me, It also sounds like they may have a blown speaker.
I am sure there is more but I am not the audio expert, my husband is. I wish he could go to NIU & fix it - it would be so much better.

The issue is the speakers are on one side of the endzone...so on the South side its too loud and on the North side it seem to be not loud enough.

Agreed. Was at a Bears preseason game a few weeks ago and the speakers surround the stadium making the sound great but not too loud. All we need in lots of money to fix this.

Not as much as you might think actually. Have NIU call us - Milam Audio Inc. We can fix this whole speaker issue. Reasonable cost because we don't gouge our customers. :-)

Yea, the speakers are really bad at times.

To really improve the sound, wouldn't they need to add more speakers around the stadium?

If NIU could do just two things I would want them to get some sound to the North end of the stadium and fix the Convo video board! These two things cannot continue to Suck any longer!!!

HuskieFootballAddict, have your husband go fix NIU Jumbotron, attach a reasonable value to his work and this will be your donation. They will take free labor as money towards a donation.
