Unless I missed it, they did not announce the attendance at the NIU game. Anyone know where it was or where I can find it? Thanks!

Funny that this year they stopped posting the attendance on the scoreboard. Can't say I blame them

RE: attendance
The attendance looked much better than 16,700 in my opinion. I was part of the problem because I couldn't be at the game and watched a portion on tv, which looked good (at least the first half)

I thought it was an overall fun and seemingly busy tailgating and game atmosphere. The Saturdays are great, it's a shame we don't have more.

If we had 5-6 Saturday games a season as the good lord intended, we would do 20k on a regular basis.

Totally agree. Seemed much better than the BC game and just felt livelier tailgating, in the stadium, etc. I would've have been surprised if they said 18k

RE: attendance
Could be mistaken, but attendance is a bit better this year than last. Also, I like a few of the new things they're doing at the stadium, small things like moving the team to the West side, and selling concessions in the stands. Basic blocking and tackling (pun intended). I also think the crowd is getting into the game, especially when defense is on the field.

RE: attendance
Why do people come to Huskie Stadium and then sit in the parking lot and listen to the game on the radio? Saw a couple of large groups in Lot K doing this.

With all due respect, a third of the east side was made up of the high school band kids. Wonder if they were counting them in attendance. They all left after halftime

It's being done on purpose because it's crucial they make the NCAA FBS attendance standard and the "estimated" attendance on the box score leaves them room to fudge. It's the leeway needed for the old audit trick known as sold tickets that went unused. The difference is that EMU is foolishly upfront about declaring those they've sold to corporate partners.

This is what I have been complaining about for years. It makes no sense, and it certainly does not help our attendance.

Even worse there was a large group the just came and tailgated in lot K. Left right as game as about to start. Don't get it.

RE: attendance
16,700 looked about right to me. The East side, even including the HS bands, was maybe 65% full, which would be about 6,500 people. West side was harder to tell because I was sitting there but the upper corners were empty, so I don't think more than about 11,000 out of the capacity of around 14,000 or a little less.
At least we aren't saying 16,700 when there are 5,000 there. On the other hand, I think a bunch of people were there for band day, so that might be a bad sign. We usually get a boost for homecoming though.

It's interesting, filmy - everyone whines and moans that games HAVE to be on Saturday, yet we get a Saturday game with lovely weather and attendance is only mediocre. Do you think it's in the best interest of NIU to increase attendance by another 4K or so each home game and give up a national broadcast that the entire country can watch?
The ESPN deal is ruining Huskie football, right? How many people out there in Huskie nation were pitching a fit because they couldn't get a good feed on ESPN3? It's kind of nice to be able to tune in to your local cable provider or go to your neighborhood watering hole to watch the Huskies play.
I was walking through a major casino during the BC game and the Huskies were featured prominently on a number of television screens throughout the property. That matters. It's the same principle as advertising a product - top of mind awareness. We need that Huskie brand out in front of the consumers to keep our program relevant.
But enjoy your Saturday games and crappy streaming feeds while we watch our program slip back to the name recognition of, say, Arkansas State.

Fox which broadcast the Beats game had a plug for NIU playing Nebraska on FS1.
That was nice to see and they had Northern Illinois not UNI, not Northern Iowa, etc.

YES
(Even though I hate to disappoint the millions of NIU fans across this great land who have their eyes glued to our "national broadcasts".)
