RE: USA Today NCAAF Week2 re-rank
I think the original question was: "How does a team drop 13 spots when you lose to a team that was a 10 point favorite?"

Good question...

All the other stuff in this thread is a re-do of the same ol shite: Fans of teams who NEVER or RARELY beat an SEC or P5 team (good, bad, doormat or door buster) try (and I use the word "try") to make themselves feel better by ridiculing others who have had modest success (compared to other C-USA programs, it is INCREDIBLE success!).

and yeah, I know USM's record against the SEC is not sterling, but take out Alabama and it is quite respectable (OP didn't beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa for a "brazillion" years): 14-14 v MSUcks, 6-18 v OP, 2-3 v Georgia, 1-2 v LSU. 5-17 v Auburn with 96% of games ON THE ROAD.

As for conferences that share our fate: 122-62 v AAC, 62-19 v Sun Belt and even 38-36 v ACC----Ya need more? But of course, they were ALL doormats right? Unlike all the great and glorious teams WKU and La Tech have beaten over the years! What a j-o-k-e, joke! 04-cheers

Well Western is .500 vs SEC in our last 6 games and just for the record here are the SOS for Western's back to back CUSA championships and the only one S. Miss won in the last 15 years. But that's OK everything was better back in the good ole days. At least in your mind....

S. Miss...2011 SOS: -4.60 (103rd of 120) 85 percentile
Western 2016 SOS: -4.03 (100th of 128) 78 percentile
Western 2015 SOS: -4.02 (98th of 128) 76 percentile

To you, college football only goes back 3 years, how self serving..03-lmfao

You guys are 3-17 against the SEC, with victories against doormats UK and Vandy...USM always plays Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, MSUcks or Florida, so give me a BIIIIIIIIIIIIG break!

Ya see, this is how folks use stats to confuse and lie...04-cheers

Give Western another 50 years or so like S. Miss has and maybe just maybe Western will catch a 3-8 Bama team. And one other thing..the S. Miss fans that count the 0-40 score that Bama beat S. Miss by as a win just because Bama got him by the ncaa...you should be ashamed because on the field the score was Bama 40 S. Miss 0. Come on are you really going to count that as a win? The official NCAA records counts the game as a loss to Bama but not a win for the team they played. The NCAA lets results on the field stand as to who loss the game.

I thought that was uk S. Miss played Saturday. So what you are saying it was "Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, MSUcks or Florida"?

uk is a doormat unless S. Miss gets beat by them at home? OK.

I see you left off something...seems to me S. Miss played and beat up on a lot of worse teams

Another 50 years? Bwahahahahahahahahaha! According to you, football only goes back 3 years!

Speaking of 50 years: IF IF IF you guys make it 50 years, you'll have good years (like the last few years), decent years, and not-so-good years (maybe coming up real soon)...That's what happens to EVERY friggin' school in college football, and that's why you just can't focus on the bad ass years.

I put in the AAC and Sun Belt records to show you what USM can do on an equal playing field with programs who are considered "peers"...IF you think we should go (on the road only) to Bama and Auburn and Florida and have a sterling record (when no one else in their conference does), then I have some Pine Mountain land with-a-view in Florida I want to sell you.

Again, facts may be manipulated to prove a point....but they aren't really "facts"..04-cheers

Tech has beaten the SEC Champs/BCS team and is more likely better than any current CUSA team victory that I know of, but it doesnt matter Eagle because it is ancient history. Get with the times buddy

Nope..it's all history, some of it is older, and some newer. 04-cheers I noticed folks who really haven't done much til the last few years are ate-up with all this "only recent history matters" B.S. Tech has a great football pedigree and should embrace it...

Again...we beat undefeated #7 Houston (who you guys say, of course, was overrated) and won C-USA only a few years back....and only a few years before that, we beat #7 TCU (overrated I'm sure) to also ruin their BCS bowl bid....so recent history is as kind to us as "ancient" history.03-lmfao

I don't live in the past...but I honor ours...while hoping USM will soon return to it's championship ways.

Western's FBS history only goes back 8 years (this makes 9) and you are the one saying 3 years....Western's SEC wins span 4 seasons.

But if you really want to we can compare the last 8 seasons. I can guarantee you you wont like what you see over those 8 seasons if we compare S. Miss to Western.

As I said give Western 50 more years of FBS and we can compare wins vs P5 schools.

Before you say it...S. Miss plays the big boys LOL. Your SOS says different.

2016 112th of 128
2015 117th of 128
2014 65th of 128
2013 96th of 125
2012 69th of 124
2011 103rd of 120
2010 95th of 120
2009 98th of 120

Here's you wins...seems like if S. Miss plays a schedule under the 85 percentile. 7 or less wins
0.88...7
0.91...9
0.51...3
0.77...1
0.56...0
0.86...12
0.79....8
0.82...7

--------------------------------------------------------

I see we have the Western stalker posting in this thread....

It must be awful to never be able to talk about your team. Well, unless it's about choking.

Could be. But we won't have to wait long to find out. Playing an SEC team will real any flaws quickly. 03-lmfao
