The only thing that irked me the other night was a Mickey Matthews-esque burnt timeout immediately after a change of possession. For whatever reason he kept Schor on the sideline untIl about 15 seconds left on the play clock. Schor rushed onto the field and had to call a timeout because he couldn't get the snap off after making his reads.

That is an inexcusable mental blunder of which we have seen far fewer times since Mickey got fired.

Keep your mouth shut about Houston, our other coaches and our team. They are the best! If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything.

RE: Issues in Mike Houston's Coaching
I'll go ahead and say it: He's an awful second half coach. Here's a few examples....

Morehead State: Scored 52 in the first half, only 28 in the second half.
Central Connecticut: Scored 35 in first half, only 21 in second half.
Rhode Island: Scored 49 in the first half, only 35 in the second half.
New Hampshire (playoffs): 31 in first half, only 24 in the second half.
Sam Houston State: 42 in first half, only 23 in second half, including NONE in the 4th.

The drop-off in second half production is concerning and needs to be fixed.

RE: Issues in Mike Houston's Coaching
My biggest issue is that he hasn't been our coach for long enough yet, he needs to stay for like 15-20 more years

Excellent points. Not sure what he's doing during halftime in the locker room, but it sure isn't making the proper adjustments. ECU was better though, so perhaps he got the message during the offseason. Sheesh.

Yep, he's proving that he can address that concern by quadrupling our first half production this past weekend.

Watching his presser via Facebook a bit ago, he was let's say "disgruntled" with his special teams play against ECU and advised WTTE of "those groups will have a tough week this week". LOL!

I'd guess Tyler Gray will have a tough week to get through.

The kicking job is now an open competition - I actually love that we have a team where sh*t like this matters and we have depth to make it an open comp. I expect Ratke to handle most of our XP's this Saturday. Assuming we won't need to try any fg's. For us, xp's and fg's inside of 45 yds should be automatic.

According to espn's box score, gray missed the 35yd fg attempt and ratke missed that PAT. They both had a mistake against ECU.

Wrong. Ratke attempted one XP and made it. Gray missed both of the failed attempts. If you need video proof, it's pretty easy to find.

Excuse me. I read the wrong TD tab on their play by play page. I hope I can make up this grave transgression.

Are drop kicks still allowed? Might be fun to watch our Aussie friend take a crack at it!

There are a myriad of responses I'd like to send here, but I'll choose not to. Peace, for now.

Mike Houston and his success at JMU is what happens when a great coach is placed in a great coaching job.

To the best of my knowledge, they are allowed, we get a 40 point lead, it would provide some good entertainment for the fans.
