Son and I made it a CONMEBOL evening last night. Watched the Argentina/Uruguay match (hope Suarez isn't hurt again), Brazil, and then Peru wins.

Sounds like a great night. I was watching the UEFA qualifiers at work and will have the USMNT on the radio coming back from our (football team I'm the special teams coordinator for) first game of the year in Detroit...about an hour each way from Toledo.

Nice!! Caught the 1st half of France vs Netherlands on lunch break and watched Chile lose and Brazil win. I really wanted to watch the Argentina vs Uruguay game however I don't have BeIn Espanol. Conmebol qualifying is butal, the 15 hour flights from Europe to South America and the time change. Peru and Paraguay are only 2 points behind Argentina and Chile for the last 2 Qualifying spots and 3 points behind Uruguay for 3rd.

We may actually miss out on the World Cup folks. Completely outplayed in a 2-0 loss to Costa Rica that leaves us potentially out of the automatic qualifying spot

Good. Serves them right for making a knee jerk reactionary manager change after 2 of our harder matches in the entire hex. And even then, they didn't even hire anyone good to replace the person they booted...

Bruce Arenas sucks and the MLS sucks even more! No Danny Williams? No Timmy Chandler? Happy to see the USMNT lose!

Pretty much have to win at Honduras if we want to qualify. Could probably get away with a draw considering Honduras God awful Goal differential, but doing that probably puts us looking at an intercontinental playoff against Syria/Saudia Arabia/Australia.

When is the Honduras do or die game? I'm lazy.....

I'd have my valet or butler look it up for me but I gave them labor day weekend off.

I mean, the people who have watched the Rams in the last decade (or any tanking NBA team for that matter) know that...but the Brits aren't used to this sort of mindset. I'd imagine Highbury is on fire right about now...crazy thing is, this isn't even the worst owner situation in the Prem. Thanks Newcastle! 03-lmfao.

^^THIS.

The MLS was pissed that he was playing too many European players. So he had to go. The media blitz against him was obvious to anyone paying attention.

Honestly, our team is complete trash right now. I don't know what we can do to fix it.

It's the MLS fault for producing so many awful players, and not attempting to grow American talent. It's better to pay a 28 year old South American nothing than it is to give a 22 year old American a chance to develop.

Tuesday Night

Considering we never sin at Honduras, the odds are not great.

Jurgen was a good system changer but was a terrible manager. His in game decisions had absolutely nothing to do with an US success. We need to replace Bruce but he needs to get us into Russia first.

Right now, I'd take an old and busted Cherundolo and Pope over ream and Zusi and Besler. It's like our current defense all have signed posters of Jeff Agoos in their bedrooms or something.

Crazy game in Luxembourg today stopped France from clinching a World Cup bid. France had 78% of the ball at 34(!?) shots and couldn't put a ball in.

This round of UEFA qualifiers have been great so far, and I'm thinking England-Slovakia and Northern Ireland-Czech Republic will be pretty great tomorrow. Both Slovakia and the Czech Republic are playing for the qualification lives and NI are trying to clinch a playoff for their first WC appearance in 32 years and only third overall.

This ^^^^^

If it wan't my team i would be laughing. We would have made qualifying with out switching managers. We had good dual citizens choosing us, the approrpiate mls players playing where they needed to be and a changing system.

We were starting to develope a more advanced system than kick it long. We have returned to a simple form of essentially yourh soccer. Now we will have to find someone else to come in and make the changes again and ride out the rough spots while we transition. We were on track, would have qualified this cup (up against the odds now), and we would have developed and grown for 2022, where our development would have paid off. 2026 now if those who are truely talented and want to play at the top don't flee because we have gotten hooked on the mls teat.

Other solutions, mls goes to a regulation/promotion league and we begin to develop young talent at the club level as muddle clubs try to home grow stars to the big time.

i doubt this happens....even with a loss on tuesday, we still have a chance to automatically qualify in 3rd. honduras still has costa rica and mexico, we have t&t and panama...just have to win 1 of those and maybe a tie will do it. honduras isn't winning both their games or even tying both games...might get a point out of one of them. yes, t&t is a tough game on the road, result there is not a given, but i believe the team will be just fine on their run home.

All of the "our chances are in serious jeopardy" lines are an obvious narrative to make Arena look good when they do make it. If they win against Honduras they'd have to catastrophically collapse in the last two games to lose out on the WC.

As much as I like Timmy Chandler, he wouldnt have done anything in that game to change the result.

Tim Howard is responsible for both goals by playing long balls quickly out of the back as his centerbacks were spreading to give options for short passes.

Going forward, we were fine(we aren't and will never be great). Navas made 2 world class saves and Pulisic whiffed on two shots unmarked in the box. Game could've easily been 2-0 USA.

Seriously, it was the international players that totally sucked. Geoff, Ream, Fabian, Villafana all were total crap. Giveaway machines.
