I'm surprised that Anton Skupin has not been converted to a TE. If he added 25 lbs, he should have the athleticism to get on the field. I saw him in practce and I doubt he ever sees the field as a QB.

Not to disparage the young man, but what are your thoughts?

Uh, no

Dear LuckeyOne,
I just happen to know his high school coach. I asked him about Skupin, and he said that he is not a Division One quarterback. Nice young man and works hard, but just doesn't have the skills needed.

Thx Ken and ETough,

I agree Ken that he can't play QB at this level which made me wonder if he could make the switch to TE. Let's roll with what we have and recruit like crazy for next season.

Great job Sergio. The 3 Juco's turned the WR group from a negative to a positive immediately upon arrival on campus. Really fortunate with those 3 last year. Should be that much better this year with a full year under their belt.

Isn't he a walk-on?

When it comes to walk-ons I use the analogy of lottery tickets.

Go out and buy 25 not know which, if any, will be winners.

Same with walk-ons. Some will make it, BUT one can't use the logic that we need a TE and maybe a couple walk-ons were TEs and bingo, problem solved.

If a few walk-ons make the 2-deeps they could just as easily be at positions which we are deep.

In fact, didn't last year CC give out a scholarship to a walk-on RB, maybe our strongest position.

This year another scholarship to a non-scholarship WR, another strong position.

I'm sure CC would be happy if he had surprise walk-ons at TE, OL, etc. but I doubt that is the case.
